Videoton made up ground on the leaders following their 2-0 home win over Kaposvar on Saturday afternoon. It needed a good second half performance, after Kaposvar frustrated the home team in the first 45 minutes. In fairness, Tibor Sisa's side could even have gone ahead in the opening period. Goals from Nikolics and an own goal from Sedlak, following good work by Gyurcso handed Vidi all three points. The win closed the gap on second placed Győri ETO to just 3 points, after they could only pick up a point away at Haladas on Sunday evening.

The weekend action kicked off on Friday evening, with the Budapest derby match between Vasas and Honved. Two bad defensive errors, which resulted in two penalty decisions being awarded to Honved, handed the visitors the win. Vasas had chances in the second half to draw level but in the end, came out fo the game empty handed, and will now look nervously over their shoulders, at the teams in the relegation places. Ujpest will have been disappointed with the one point they picked up in their home game with Siofok. Despite taking the lead, they had striker Rajczi sent off and Siofok drew level towards the end of the match. The point did neither side any favours.

Papa climbed out of one of the relegation places, with their single goal home win over mid table Paks. It was manager Bene's first win since taking over Papa and the win shot them up to 10th place in the OTP league. ZTE were looking for their first win over the season, but could only draw 0-0 at home to Pecs. The point leaves them ten points adrift at the bottom of the table, and things now look very bleak for them. The match of the weekend took place at the Albert stadium in Budapest. Close to 10,000 saw a spirited performance from the home side, but it was not enough against an unbeaten Debrecen side. They emerged 2-1 winners to keep their place at the top of the table.

There were two games played on Sunday. The first was the Kecskemet - Diosgyőr match, which saw the home side come out 1-0 winners. The goal came in the first minute of the match, after the referee awarded a penalty kick. Diosgyőr lost ground on the leading teams, and have another difficult game next weekend, when Videoton make the journey to Miskolc. The final game of the weekend saw the west country derby match between Haladas and Győri ETO. ETO took a first half lead, but Haladas showed plenty of commitment in a second half performance to pick up a point under their new manager. The two points dropped for Győri ETO meant that Videoton cut the gap between them and second place Győr, to just three points.
