Looking back on the last twelve months - Part 3

July

1.      Videoton FC - Besztercebánya 3-1 (1-1). 2500

2.      "It feels great that so many were interested in coming out to see us play in the friendly" - explained Gyorgyi Sandor after the friendly win

3.      Videoton FC - Gloria Bistrita 2-0 (0-0). Vidi win their second friendly against Romanian opponents. The match is played in Felcsut.

7.     Talented youngster Roland Szolnoki signs a three year contract extension.

8.      Videoton FC win the Hungarian Super Cup with a single goal from Andre Alves enough to beat Kecskemet, and gain some revenge for the earlier Hungarian cup final defeat.

13.    Record numbers visit the clubs official website as Vidi kick off their Champion league adventure against Austrian side Sturm Graz.

16.    Former Videoton manager, Bicskei Bertalan, passes away at the age of 66. The ex Honved and Hungarian international goalkeeper, who also went on to manage Hungary twice, was manager of Vidi during the 2003 season. 

17.   Evandro Brandao, whose former clubs include Manchester United and Benfica, joins Videoton. The young forward joins up with Paulo Sousa, who managed him when he was manager of the U18 Portugal national side. Evandro signs a three year contract with the club.

18.   Portuguese young forward Evandro, who used to often train with C. Ronaldo - is introduced to the media at the Sóstói Stadium.

19.    A female supporter arrived from Tokyo to give her support to Videoton. The Japanese female is a long standing fan of Vidi! She stays to watch the Videoton - Sturm Graz Champions League match. 

20.    A new Golden DVD is produced! The first one is always the best… All the best moments of the title winning season are covered on this exclusive DVD.

20.    Vidi produce a great first half performance: Vidi-Sturm 3-2. The supporters produce a fantastic atmosphere at a near full house Sostoi stadium.

21.    Owner Istvan Garancsi writes to the clubs supporters to thank them for their excellent backing.

22.    Eight youth players receive professional contracts with the club. Two keepers and six outfield players link up with the reserve side, following their three year contracts.

24.    Paulo Sousa makes his first division debut and watched Vidi beat Paks 4-0 at the Sostoi.

24.    Roland Szolnoki makes his first division debut.

28.    Akos Elek is voted the discovery of the season.

29.   A celebratory plaque is put up on the wall close to the dressing room in memory of the fantastic achievement of the previous season..

30.    Vidi slip up away at Kaposvar in terrible weather conditions, with the pitch close to unplayable. 

31.    "The supporters did not deserve that performace." Paulo Sousa says sorry in the name of the team following the poor away performance. 

August

1.      A record 2600 season tickets are sold to the supporters.

1.      A further three youth players are offered professional contracts with the club.

2.      Videoton FC - Hapoel Ra'anana 1-1 (1-1). A pre-season friendly against the Israeli club results in , Szolnoki suffering a serious injury.

4.      Serie A-midfielder arrives at Vidi. Former Chelsea player Filipe Oliveira joins on loan from Parma.

5.      Vidi players including Daniel Nagy pay a visit to the local hospital to visit sick children.. Tickets and presents are handed out to the patients.

6.      Paulo Sousa spends an evening with the supporters.

6.      An Alves goal and a fantastic free kick from Brachi is enough to give Vidi a 2-0 home win over Diosgyőr.

9.      David Macsicza signs for Vidi. Dávid becomes the first foreign player to come through the Puskás Akadémy.

9.      Csaba Ponczók leaves the club after his contract is cancelled..

10.    Vujovic extends his present contract by a further year and a half, and goes out on loan to Haladas.

10.    Akos Elek scores his first goal for Hungary. Gosztonyi plays for the U21 side in Wales.

12.    A new signing - Vidi strengthen from Uruguay by signing a Brazilian defender. 21 year old Paulo Vinícius Souza dos Santos, who had played for Uruguay club CA River Plate arrives in Fehervar, signing a three year deal.

14.    Defeat away in Debrecen. Vidi go down 2-1 against 'Loki'.

14.    Vidi's B side go through to the next round of the Hungarian cup.

17.    A midweek 0-0 away draw at Siofok is next up for Paulo Sousa's side. Vidi come back with a point following a battling performance.

19.    Dr. Gyorgy Mezey is given the freedom of the town of  Székesfehérvár.

20.   Vidi beat Pecs 4-1 at the Sostoi. Young Evandro is one of the goalscorers in the win.

21.    Oliveira makes a very good debut in the first division for Vidi.

24.    Filip Pajovics commits his future to Videoton until 2015. The 18 year old keeper has represented Serbia several times and signs a four year deal. 

27.    Vidi suffer a single goal away defeat with Honved. Danilo scores the only goal from the penalty to give the Budapest side all three points.

28.    Sándor György is called up for Hungary. He replaces the injured Dzsudzsák Balázs.

30.    25 capped Portugal international defender Marco Caneira signs a two year contract with the club.

30.    Gabor Horvath leaves Vidi for Dutch side ADO Den Haag on a two year deal. 

31.    The final moments of the transfer window sees Laszlo Lencse go out on loan to KTE. Milanovic leaves for Tatabanya, while Vidi break up contracts with defender Zoltan Liptak. Hidvegi joins ZTE full time, while young Denes Szakaly joins the same club on loan.

31.    Vidi kick off the league cup with defeat at MTK.

September

1.      Patrik Király makes his debut for Vidi. The U19 player plays in the league cup home match with MTK. 

7.      Praise from UEFA. The delegate for the Hungary v Italy U21 match, held at the Sostoi, is pleased with everything he sees at the club.

7.      Greek defender joins Videoton FC. 23 year old Vasilios Apostolopoulos sings a year deal with the red and blues until May 2012.

7.      Vidi beat second division side Gyirmot in the league cup with a 4-2 scoreline. A Nikolics and Alves double does the damage.

8.      The club holds a meeting with the supporters 

10.    A last minute Vaskó goal gives Vidi a vital home win over Haladas.

13.   The new team photo is prepared for the season ahead.

13.    Balazs Tóth returns to Videoton signing a three year deal. 

16.    Managing Director Mark Tassy positions himself behind the goal to take photos of a home game. 
17.    Vidi are involved in a 0-0 draw away at Budapest side Vasas.

23.    Vidi pick up three points in an easy home win over bottom side ZTE 4-1..

27.    The club signs a joint working relationship with the local St George Hospital.
