Vidi make sure that the points remain at the Sostoi stadium

Videoton produced a good and disciplined performance to ensure that they picked up all three points at the Sostoi stadium on Sunday afternoon. Paulo Sousa kept a fairly consistant side, which meant that Bozovic remained in goal, with a back four of Szolnoki, Vinicius, Caneira and Hector. The midfield included five players with Sandor, Toth, Mitrovic, Walter and Oliveria supplying plenty of options for the busy and hard working Nikolics up front. With Brachi still recovering from an earlier injury, he went for a gentle work out before the game to work on his fitness. A good crowd of almost 9,000 gathered inside the Sostoi on a very hot afternoon, which influenced the way the match panned out. There was also a good turnout from the green and white supporters. The good atmosphere inside the stadium was thanks to both sets of fans doing their best to back their respective sides.

Vidi began the game on the front foot attacking the Budapest side early on. There was plenty of possession in the middle of the pitch, with the visitors Simic having an early effort on goal. Walter and Hector both tried to put crosses into the centre but these were easily dealt with by the FTC defence. The first half progressed with Vidi gaining more and more control of the game. The red and blues had a good chance after 16 minutes, when Oliveira's good ball into the middle was met by the head of Vinicius, who headed wide of the goal. 

Vidi went even closer a minute later, when Oliveira beautifully released Sandor, whose shot was saved well by the Ferencvaros keeper. The visitors were finding it hard to create an effort on Bozovic' goal throughout a busy first half with the referee blowing for half time with Vidi well on top in this OTP league game. 

There were no changes at the break with Vidi looking to step up the tempo. Hakola then took the first of his three corner kicks on 50 minutes, which evaded everyone in the box and went out of play behind the keepers far post to the frustration of manager Detari. The second of his corners resulted in the same after 57 minutes. Ferencvaros went close a minute later following a cross on the left from Junior, which saw Simics head just wide of the near post. Gyurcso came on for Walter on the hour mark to add pace to the home attack. Sandor then headed wide when well placed as Jova's goal survived another threat. 

Vidi took the lead after 67 minutes, when Sandor's shot rebounded infront of Gyurcso who laid the ball back for Nikolics to shoot nicely into the back of the net. It was his last contribution as he went off to be replaced by Torghelle. Ferencvaros tried to push play up a bit, which left space for Torghelle to hit a long range effort over the bar on 74 minutes. The match official then awarded Vidi a penalty after the keeper pulled down Torghelle after a powerful shot was parried byJova. Mitrovicplaced the ball on the spot and made no mistake to make it 2-0. There were no further chances on either goal, with Vidi managing to break a 19 year record of not having beaten FTC at home. The three points gained were well worth it and Vidi now have a challenging away match away at KTE to negotiate next.
