Videoton FC - Ujpest FC 1-0 (0-0)
It took a goal from substitute Nemanja Nikolics, after 77 minutes to give Videoton all three points in this exciting game. Ujpest proved tough opponents, and their young side were a match for a busy Vidi side, who were missing the central defensive pairing of Zoltan Liptak and Tamas Vasko. Videoton were looking to build on their lead at the top of the Monicomp league, which they succeeded in doing.
A presentation was made to captain Balazs Farkas, who was making his 300th league appearance. Andre Alves had a couple of efforts on goal early on, while Gyorgy Sandor battled away in midfield. Neither keeper was really tested in the first half, as both sides looked to cancel the other one out. Daniel Nagy looked lively on the right side, and Videoton always looked the more dangerous on that side.
The second half began with Gyorgy Mezey making a couple of changes. Nikolics was sent on to partner Alves up front, replacing Polonkai. Nagy had a great chance to put the home side in front but he shot went just wide of the goal. Nikola Mitrovic was playing well in the middle for Ujpest, and his passes often found the wide players in plenty of space. The two substitutes combined to open up the Ujpest defence, when Gosztonyi broke down the right and cut the ball back for Nikolics, who stuck his foot out to send the ball into the corner of the net.
Mitrovic then sent a lovely lob just over the bar, which was probably Ujpest's best chance of the game. Balazs Farkas and Damir Milanovics did well at the back as the manager was forced to reshuffle the pack, due to the suspended players. Vidi saw the game out and picked up an important three points, to extend their lead at the top to four points. The focus now turns to next weeks home game with Siofok, and another possible three points.
