Videoton and MTK share a goaless draw

The final match of league cup Group C was played out at the Sostoi stadium on Wednesday afternoon. On a frosty pitch and in front of very few supporters, a fairly strong Videoton side battled it out with the runaway leaders of the second division, MTK. Vasko partnered Caneira at the back with Hector occupying the left back position. A midfield quartet of Vasziljevics, Polonkai, Toth and Nagy looked to be in control for most periods of the game. Nikolics and Alves were paired together in the attack. The point gained by both sides means that Vidi and MTK will progress into the next stage of the cup, at the expense of Gyirmot and Honved.

MTK managed to frustrate Vidi for the majority of the match, with the home side creating plenty of chances throughtout the game. Both Gyorgyi Sandor and Akos Elek watching from the stands, having returned in the morning from international duty. Eight teams now make it in to the quarter final stages of the League cup, keeping Vidi in contention in three competitions, with the two legged Hungarian cup tie against Haladas due to be played in December.
