Both teams scored through penalties during the 90 minutes
The team played two systems during the game. The first half saw Vidi practice the away game tactics, which they will hope to use in the match at Maribor. Videoton welcomed back defender Gabor Horvath to their line-up, which started as follows: Bozsovics – Lázár, Milanovics, Horváth, Hidvégi – Gosztonyi, Farkas, Sándor, Polonkai – Alves, Nikolics. Vidi almost went ahead after 4 minutes, when Alves passed the ball to the left for Polonkai to have a shot on goal. The game had plenty of chances, with Nikolics seeing a powerful shot go over the bar after 10 minutes. Alves also had a 20 meters shot, which went close. The only goal of the first half came a minute before half-time. The Romanian side scored from the penalty spot, despite keeper Bozsovics going the write way.
The second half line-up was as follows: Bozsovics – Andics, Milanovics, Horváth, Hidvégi – Sitku, Szakály, Sándor, Polonkai – Lencse, Vujovics. The second half was an exciting affair with 5 goals being scored. It was the Romanian side who doubled their lead after 54 minutes. Horvath pulled a goal back a minute later to bring Vidi back in to the game. Szakaly sent in a free kick, which was well met by the defender. Striker Lencse then had a shot at goal, but it was the FC International who went down the other end to make it 3-1.
Manager Gyorgy Mezey then made several changes, and it appeared to make a difference. Szakaly sent in a corner, and Vujovics reacted quickest to score after 68 minutes. Chance after chance then came, before Vujovics scored once again from the penalty spot, with a minute left, to make the final score 3-3.
