Istvan Kovacs: We can learn a lot from these types of games

We spoke to the midfielder following Wednesday's 1-1 friendly draw with FC Zenit of Russia.

"I feel that the friendly draw with Zenit fully achieved its target. The Russian opponents paid us the compliment of playing their best starting eleven against us. That meant that not only us, but they also were treating the game very seriously. The tempo of the game was faster than an average NBI league match. We had to play faster and also think quicker on the pitch. These games allow us to learn plenty. They are very valuable, not only by drawing with them, but also being equal opponents for them on the pitch. We played really good football in the first half. The youngsters that came on in the second half also adjusted well. We played two different systems in both halves and neither were strange for us. The more than a week period here in Dubai has resulted not only in us preparing physically, but also practising various tactical elements. It has been very worthwhile and I feel that the first winter training camp has gone well. We can be pleased with the performance that we put in during the 1-1 draw with Zenit" - commented Istvan Kovacs after the final whistle.
