Pecs were the visitors to the Sostoi stadium on Sunday evening in the OTP league. They arrived having not picked up a point so far in opening matches, and ended up leaving empty handed. A crowd of over 3,000 came out to watch Vidi maintain their good start, which has seen them collect 9 points from a possible 9.
The first 15 minutes passed off without any real goalmouth action, with a Juhasz header being the first effort on goal after 10 minutes. Pecs went on the attack in the 23rd minute, which saw Frolich play Szatmari in with a chance on goal, but he could not beat Calatayud, who saved very well with his feet. The resulting corner from the left was spectacularly volleyed home by Frolich, who gave the visitors the lead. It really was a great strike from 25 yards out, which is rarely seen these days from a visiting side. The goal also shook Vidi up and they were level within a couple of minutes. Nikolics ran onto a long through ball, and defender Uzoma brought the striker down, resulting in not only a penalty being awarded, but also Uzoma receiving his marching orders. Nikolics kept his composure to send the keeper the wrong way.
There was more action a couple of minutes later as Vinicius and Grumics clashed, with the visiting player kicking out at the Videoton central defender. The referee handed out his second red card, which saw Pecs suddenly down to 9 men. The two men advantage saw Roland Juhasz pushed upfield to help out in the attack. Alvarez sent in a lovely cross on 36 minutes towards the far post, which Vinicius rose to head down and beyond Dibusz in the Pecs goal. Vidi had turned the match around and were now in total control. Things got better 5 minutes later when Kovacs fed Nikolics with a lovely pass, who looked up and planted a shot from 15 meters beyond the keeper to make it 3-1 to the Fehervar side.
Pecs made two changes at half time, while José Gomes made one. Yellow carded Vinicius was replaced by Zé Luis who went upfront to partner Nikolics. The supporters did not have to wait too long for the next chance. Stopira crossed from the left and Zé Luis headed wide of the post. The Cape Verde forward was very active in the Videoton attack, and he proved dangerous with his heading several times. The minutes went by and the 9 men of Pecs were tiring more and more. Dibusz was seeing more of the ball producing several good saves to keep the scoreline down. He could do nothing in the 70th minute following an Alvarez corner, which Zé Luis flicked on to Sandor, who produced an unstoppable shot across the face of goal to make it 4-1
Calatayud showed how alert he was by getting to the ball ahead of the arriving Markvart. Dibusz did well to keep out an Alvarez strike from 10 meters, but the same player did even better to plant his effort past Dibusz to make it 5-1 after 76 minutes. Dibusz produced more good saves in the final moments, as the score remained the same until the final whistle.
Videoton are in home action again next weekend when 100% Paks are the visitors to the Sostoi, in a match that will see two of the top sides meet in an important league game.
