Paks fail to halt Vidi's good run of results

Sunday evening's match with Paks promised to be interesting from several points of view. On one hand, Vidi have made their best start to a season since season 2009/2010. Another interesting aspect was that two 100% sides came face to face. Nemanja Nikolics also made his 100th appearance for Videoton FC. 

The match started well for the home side with Vidi breaking the deadlock as early as the 3rd minute. Nikolics got hold of the ball and buried his shot into the corner of the net to make it 1-0. The same player then won a penalty after being brought down by defender Eger, who received a straight red card from the match official. The match was just 6 minutes old and Vidi had the chance to double their lead from the resulting penalty spot. Nikolics kept his composure to place the ball in to the back of the net. Niko has started the new season in hot form having scored 7 goals in the opening 4 league matches. It was also the forwards 55th goal in a Vidi shirt, reaching Andre Alves in goals scored. Vidi kept good possession of the ball with their two goal lead and man advantage.

José Gomes' side continued to play good football as they went forward in search of more goals. Sandor fed Alvarez with a lovely ball on the half hour, but the latter sent his shot just wide of the target. Paks had a chance to get back in to the game following a back pass from Roland Juhasz. The defender's pass back was short, but Calatayud managed to clear the danger ahead of Attila Simon.

	The crowd were entertained at half time with a dance act.

The Sostoi crowd had to wait 18 minutes of the second half for Vidi to almost move further ahead. Kleinheisler's corner was flicked on by Sandor, for the arriving Zé Luis to powerfully head against the crossbar, but the ball was judged not to have cross the line. Young Kleinheisler took a free kick from the left, and his inswinging ball was met well by the head of Juhasz, who gave Paks keeper Molnar no chance. 3-0 became 4-0 five minutes later, when Gyurcso curled a lovely free kick over the wall and beyond the reach of Molnar. There was still time for Paks sub Konyves to score a consolation goal from 14 meters out, after he cut in and bent the ball into the top corner. The result was enough to take Videoton to first place in the OTP league, following Debrecen's 1-1 draw at Haladas on Sunday.
