Match Report: Draw against Újpest FC

In the 26th round of the OTP Bank Liga on Saturday at 17:00 we hosted Újpest at the MOL Arena Sósto. Due to injury, Bartosz Grzelak could not count on Szabolcs Schön, Attila Fiola, Nikola Serafimov, Lyes Houri, Szilveszter Hangya and Rúben Pinto, so he sent out the eleven of Kovács D. - Bese, Csongvai, Stopira, Heister - Dárdai, Flores, Pokorny - Kastrati, Kodro, Katona to start. Before the game, our legendary players who recently celebrated their birthdays were welcomed by our sporting director Roland Juhász - among the celebrated players, Ferenc Csongrádi, Tibor Végh, János Koszta, Gábor Fejes and József Kovács were able to attend the match.

The match started with a 22-metre shot from Varga, then in the 8th minute Kodro was fouled by Tim Hall and Pintér pointed to the penalty spot. However, the VAR indicated that the foul had been committed outside the box. Kodro was behind the free kick and his shot bounced off the wall, with Stopira heading the ball over the goal. Two minutes later, Onovo missed the target with a half-clearing move and in the 20th minute, Heister attempted a shot from distance but it went wide of the left post. At the end of the half, Csoboth had a good chance, but our former player missed the target from seven yards.

At the break Makarenko replaced Mátyás Katona, Újpest did not change. The half lasted six minutes, when Csoboth's pass was missed by Varga, and in the 56th minute Dárdai's cross to the left was intercepted by Nicolic. After an hour of play, we freshened up, with Christensen replacing Pokorony. In the 71st minute, Dárdai stepped out from between the defenders, but Nicolic was alert and saved. Two minutes later substitute Jevtovski fired a shot from distance but Kovács did not have to save. Loic Nego replaced Kastrati for the last 10 minutes. In the 82nd minute, the visitors were in a great position, but Goure's header was saved by Kovács. The match was virtually sealed by Kodro's shot from 20 metres out, with both teams getting a point each on Saturday afternoon at the MOL Arena Sósto.
