Gyurcsó and Oliveira scored the goals to give Vidi a 2-0 half time lead. A Nikolics double in the second period gave the red and blues an 11 points lead over second place FTC with 5 matches left to play.
Vidi hosted Pecs in the 25th week of the OTP Bank league in sunny conditions at the Sostoi. There was one change to the team that started last week. Joan Carrillo brought Trebotic in to the side in place of Simon. Pecs started quite strongly but the first chance fell to the home side. Gyurcso's cross was headed over by Nikolics inside the box. The reply came after 10 minutes, with a low shot from the left by Uzoma ending up with a shot by James at goal, but that effort was blocked.
Markvart in the 13th minute and then Paulijevic a minute later shot their free kicks over from 26 meters out. A big chance was missed after 18 minutes following a Gyurcso cross to Nikolics, but the ball got stuck between his feet from very close range, and the visitors saw the danger cleared. Paulijevic ran at goal alone after 22 minutes, but Stopira managed to catch him and then showed good movement to make sure that the score remained deadlock. Poleksic came out well to deal with a high ball from Gyurcso on 23 minutes, but he could do nothing a couple of minutes later: Oliveira sent in a lovely ball from the left for the unmarked Gyurcso to find the right corner from 6 meters (1-0).
The visitors appealed for a penalty after 26 minutes, with Vinicius and Uzoma clashing around the box, which ended with the Pecs player falling to the ground. However, the match official waved play on. Nikolics on 28 minutes and Oliveira after 33 minutes (with a back heel) tested Poleksic with efforts. Vidi doubled their lead after 37 minutes: Gyurcso showed skill to try and bring Nikolics in to the play, but the ball did not find him, but the arriving Oliveira made no mistake with his right foot to find the bottom left corner. Poleksic had no chance with the ball bouncing off Okdanic. (2-0).
Vidi went in at the break with a two goal lead, with neither side making a change.
Feczesin had a shot blocked after 53 minutes, while Juhasz saw his headed saved by the keeper following a corner. Frohlich put a ball in behind the vidi defence 3 minutes later, which ended with Markvart hitting a shot from a tight angle, which was nicely saved by Calatayud. A Markvart corner on 63 minutes was headed out by Sandor, but the ball was sent back in by a Pecs player, which was flicked on by Balogh but Calatayud was again well placed to deal with it.
Events sped up half way through the second period: A Gyurcso cross was saved by Horvath, while a strong shot from James went just wide from 25 meters. Szatmari then shot over, while Sandor at the other end shot wide from 23 meters out.
Juhasz on 72 minutes and a few moments later from Feczesin almost increased the lead. Vidi did manage to extend their lead on 74 minutes. Stopira sent in a good ball from the left for the arriving Nikolics to find the back of the net from 7 meters. This was the forward's 20th league goal this season! Niko had never before managed to score so many league goals in a season! (3-0).
The 77th minute resulted in Stopira doing well to clear following a corner from the visitors. The match was settled after 80 minutes with the fourth goal: Gyurcso crossed from the left to the far post, which ended with Nikolics sending a lovely header back over to the other corner of the net. (4-0).
Norbert Heffler (brother of Vidi's TIbor), shot a free kick in to the side netting with 10 minutes left. Juhasz tried his luck and Nikolics also had a long distance free kick on goal, but neither found the back of the net. Vidi beat Pecs 4-0 to keep the lead at the top over FTC to 11 points. That lead is 14 points over MTK, who could only draw at Nyiregyhaza with 5 league games left. Videoton have now picked up 64 points from 25 league matches, which is the second best in the clubs history. Vidi's best ever return is 66 points in 2012, which is just two behind at the moment.
Videoton are next in action in the Hungarian cup at Ujpest on Tuesday.
