Sumqayit FK in the 2nd qualifying round of CL

The draw for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League was held at UEFA headquarters in Nyon on Wednesday at 14:00. Our club was seeded in the draw and in the morning the list of potential opponents was narrowed down to eight teams.

The afternoon draw confirmed that, as in the summer of 2022, we will start our European campaign against Azerbaijan opponents and Sumqayit FK. The first match will be played away on 25th July, the return leg will take place in Hungary on Wednesday 31st July.

UEFA will inform the clubs concerned of the possible swap of the return leg fixtures by 18.00 on Thursday 20 June, while the exact kick-off times will be finalised by 26 June.

Founded in 2010, Sumgayit's stadium is 3,274 kilometres by car from Székesfehérvár. The team, which finished fourth in the 2023/2024 season, moved to a new stadium a year ago and now plays its home matches in a 10,000-seater instead of its previous 1,500 arena. Their best result is third place in the 2020/2021 season, they have six national team players (two Azeri, one each from Pakistan, Burundi, Chad and Estonia) and nearly half of their squad is made up of foreign players.
