TAMÁS PETŐ

We got a good result away from home, it's still open for us to qualify

After the 1-0 defeat against Omonoia FC, our head coach Tamás Pető and the Lithuanian manager of the Cypriot team, Valdas Dambrauskas, assessed the match.

Pető Tamás:

"We got what we expected, Omonoia is a very good team, they have excellent players and we were prepared for the crosses from the wing and one on one, we were able to defend for the most part. They put a lot of pressure on us in the first 15 minutes and we managed to survive that. There were periods in the first half when we took control. Nevertheless, we must admit that we were also lucky, as the Cypriot team created a lot of chances. In the second half, we had to bring on two players who have been with us for two days, so there was a bit of a risk there, but I think they both did very well. We were under a lot of pressure in the second half and the only mistake we made, when we couldn't defend a cross, was ruthlessly exploited by Omonoia. Overall, I am very happy with my team, especially considering we had travelled 16 hours the day before. I am proud of all my players, I think we got the most out of this game. We got a good result away from home, it's open for us to qualify, everything will be decided next week."

Valdas Dambrauskas:

"Even if "only" 1-0, it is very important that we won and our goal is to qualify for the second leg. We created a lot of chances, but unfortunately we only managed to convert one of them into a goal, but I'm happy that we finished the match without conceding a goal. Fehérvár are a very ambitious team, they were compact defensively. I expect a completely different match next Wednesday in Fehérvár, on the one hand our opponent will be playing at home, and on the other hand I think we can expect a different game from them. We will have to play smart and we will have to pay attention to the importance of counter-attacks."
