Vidi led in the first half, but in the second 45 minutes, MTK came back and deservedly reached the semi-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup.
Before the quarter-finals of the MOL Hungarian Cup, the semi-finals were drawn: if Vidi had qualified, we would have had to play Ferencváros away.

After some familiarisation, the first chance of the match came for the home side: in the 5th minute, a cross from Viktor Hei did not connect with Robert Polievka. After a few minutes of play, Mátyás Kovács shot over from the corner of the five-yard box - it was a good chance for the visitors!
Márk Kosznovszky's effort was easily saved by Gergely Nagy, as was Kristian Sekularac's shot at the other end, which was no problem for Adrián Csenterics. In the 20th minute we took the lead after a good move: a right-wing cross from Mátyás Kovács was perfect for Sekularac, who pounced behind the defender and put the ball into the empty goal (0-1).
Nicolas Stefanelli could have doubled the lead immediately, but he missed András Huszti's deflected ball. MTK had more possession and defended with discipline. The game continued with an István Bognár shot but it did not cause a problem for Gergely Nagy.
Ivan Milicevic came on for András Huszti at the break. In the 47th minute Stefanelli turned towards goal and Csenterics bravely caught the shot. In the 51st minute we really regretted the missed opportunity: Ádin Molnár's ball into the middle was headed into the net by Krisztián Németh ahead of Simeon Petrov (1-1). MTK were back in the game.
In the 55th minute the home team turned the game around: Bognár's free kick bounced off the wall and deceived Nagy (2-1). Head coach Tamás Pető tried to shake up his team with substitutions: Bálint Szabó and Ivan Saponjic came on for Sekularac and Melnyik in the 66th minute.
The substitutions didn't bring any joy to Vidi, the blue and whites dominated the second half of the game. In the 73rd minute Marin Jurina received a good pass and took advantage of the chance with a blistering shot that flew past the visiting keeper (3-1). In the 76th minute came the next goal: an MTK move resulted with the ball bouncing off Milicevic and into the net (4-1 ). Saponjic was played in with a chance towards the end following a pass from Szabo. The Serbian striker kept his cool to find the corner of the net (4-2).
After a good first half, MTK had their way in the second half, and the home side progressed to the next round of the MOL Hungarian Cup.
