Vidi visit the home of league newcomers Budafok on Sunday

Vidi will be looking for their first league win of the new season when they make the trip to Budapest.

Budafok are back in the NB I after a 74 year absence. Former Vidi player Csaba Csizmadia now manages them and he guided them up in the 2019/2020 season. We played them 21 times earlier in the NBII and those resulted in 10 wins, 3 draws and 8 defeats. We enjoyed a 27-18 goal difference over the years.

There have been 5 meetings in the Hungarian Cup over the years between the two. Those have produced 4 Vidi wins and a single victory for Budafok back in 2016.

Summer transfer activity saw plenty of movement for the Budapest based side. 11 players arrived and 9 departed. Marko Iharos came in from Croatian side Slaven Belupo, Zoltan Kovacs from ZTE FC, Attila Lorinczy was a free signing from Soroksar, Sinan Medgyes from Budaors, Marko Nikolic who was most recently with FK Rad of Serbia, Balint Olah arrived from Mezokovesd, Ronald Takacs was another free signing who was most recently with Inter Bratislava. Coming in on loan were Balazs Bese from MTK, Andras Huszti from Puskas Academy, Skribek Alen also from Puskas and Daniel Zsori from MOL Fehervar FC.

Heading out in the opposite direction were: Daniel Foldi (THSE), Gergo Goher to Gyongyos, Roland Horvath to Budaors, Kornel Khiesz, Martin Kroner both to Pecs, Balazs Opavszky to III ker, while Vladimir Veszelinov retired.

After 74 years, Budafok won their first NB I match, when they beat Kisvarda 2-1 at home with the goals coming from David Kovacs and former Vidi player Gergo Vaszicsku. The BMTE team also includes a former player from Fehervar, Andor Margitics, who was also there in the starting side against Kisvarda.

In the second match, the players of Csaba Csizmadia played out a 1-1 draw away at Ujpest, and the goal was scored by Vidi's loan player Daniel Zsori. The Vidi Puskas Prize-winning footballer is sure to not play against us on Sunday, as he received a red card in the last minute of the match against Ujpest and was banned from four games.
