Match Report: A late Futacs goal beats Wolfsberg

Vidi played the second of their three friendly games in Austria on Wednesday afternoon.

Vidi played their second summer pre-season game against Austrian side Wolfsberg AC, who had finished in third place in the domestic league. Manager Marko Nikolic chose the following side for the game: Kovácsik – Hangya, Juhász, Mocsi, Tamás – Berecz, Hadzic, Nyári – Milanov, Futács, Huszti.

The first real chance arrived after 14 minutes to the Austrian side with Schmidt's ball through failing to catch Kovacsik out. The rebound fell to the same player but he sent the ball over the bar with the goal at his mercy. Huszti took a 19th minute corner that Juhasz headed at goal but it went wide. Two minutes later saw Leitgeb find Schmidt, who shot over from inside the box.

The game was almost 30 minutes old when a cross from the right saw the active Schmidt head at goal, but Kovacsik collected it comfortably. Huszti and Milanov then combined in a move forward a couple of minutes later, which ended with the Bulgarian midfielder crossing and the ball went off a defender and out for a corner.

Liendl played Schmidt in on 41 minutes and he tried to take the ball between the legs of Kovacsik, but the keeper managed to do well and save. That was the final chance of the first half. There was one change at the break with Anel Hadzic being replaced by U18 international Balint Szabo. The start of the second half started off quietly until Golles went on a spring before hitting the ball well over the bar. Syla laid the ball into the path of Schmidt on 58 minutes, who aimed for the bottom right with his left foot, but he could not hit the target.

A 76th minute free kick from Huszti ended with Milanov going on a good run before cutting the ball back for Futacs, who wanted to shoot at goal, but his effort was blocked. Huszti had another free kick a minute later, which was played on by the head of Mocsi and into the path of Futacs, but his volley produced a good save from keeper Schiffler. The game was won in the final minute with Milanov turning his man and crossing low for Futacs to send the ball into the back of the net.

Marko Nikolic' side are next in action on Thursday against Banik Ostrava. That match kicks off at 17:00pm.
