Gyorgy Mezey would like to see a Videoton victory as well as a clean sheet

The manager looks forward to the Europa League first leg game with NK Maribor

It has been years since the club last participated on the international stage. Manager Gyorgy Mezey was in a celebratory mood as he welcomed the media, at the press conference held in Felcsut, on Wednesday. Mezey began the meeting by talking about the ten-day training camp in Austria recently. He also had a few words about last weeks Super cup final game with Debrecen. He then turned his focus on Videoton's Europa league opponents, Maribor:

"They are a dangerous side, and I consider Maribor to be in the mid-level in Europe. Their strengths include the fact that they are a well-built side, and they play a good working system. It is clear to the eye that they have been playing football like this for years. Their star player is the Brazilian, Teveres, and he will determine Maribor’s attacking play and result. At the same time, their defence is tight and they also have a strong midfield. We will be playing a good, strong team on Thursday, in Győr."
Mezey then spoke about his expectations regarding the result, while also adding that Videoton's chances had been reduced by the fact that his side had to play the game in Győr. He was also expecting an even battle, ideally with a win, while making sure that his team did not concede a goal.

Club captain Balazs Farkas said the following: "My feelings are that we have a 50-50 chance of going through. I am counting on them having a Slav mentality, who are real battlers, and highly trained players. We have also prepared and I would very much like us to take a lead, without conceding goals, into the second leg."

Manager Mezey ended the press conference by talking about his expected squad: "My plan is to give debuts to both keeper Bozsovics and midfielder Gosztonyi in the starting line-up. I will also be giving the chance to Djordjic. New signing Tamas Vasko, will miss the game, but he has a chance of making it for the second leg in Maribor. So it looks like being the following, with Bozsovics in goal. The defence will be Andic, Liptak, Horvath and Elek. Sandor and Farkas will play in central midfield with both Gosztonyi and Polonkai playing out on the wings. Alves looks certain to start up front, while I have still not made up my mind as to who will partner him. I will name my final line-up on Thursday evening."

The players will spend Wednesday evening at home, before the team meet up for a joint lunch on Thursday, followed by a bit of relaxation. The squad will then travel to Győr, just before 6pm.
