We talked to our young defender about the lessons learned from the past games, the comments made at half-time against Kecskemét and the match against DVTK on Sunday.
In the last couple of games we travelled to away games and managed to leave Debrecen and Kecskemét with a win and a draw respectively. What was the game plan for these two games?
In both games, the priority was to keep our defence as stable as possible. It was important that the parts of the team could move together and work together as much as possible. We did that well in Debrecen, but the first half against Kecskemét was a real slip-up, but I'm happy that we were able to come back in the second half. If I look at these two games together, the four points away from home is a great result.
Going back to our last game against Kecskemét, the first half was one of the worst of the season, but the second half was very good. What happened at half-time?
We had a very serious discussion at the break, where one of the things we said was that you can't play football the way we did in the first half. We also changed the formation for the second half, we switched to four defenders and played much more agile, so the home side had much less time to think, pass and play through the midfield. In addition, we attacked with great power and we created chances. Saponjic had two big chances early in the second half, but he couldn't score from them, and then he managed the most difficult one, scoring a great goal. The equaliser motivated the whole team, we didn't give up after the penalty and then we equalised. After that we tried to win the match, which we didn't manage, but we can't be dissatisfied with the result.
Did you have a chance to relax a bit after the league game on Friday night, how was your time off?
Very well, I feel the whole team managed to recharge their batteries. I went to Romania, I spent these few days at home with my family and my girlfriend. It's good that we were able to relax, so we came back with renewed energy and we're fully refreshed and ready for the game against Diósgyőr.
What could be the key to success on Sunday against DVTK, who have not started the spring in the best way and have also undergone a coaching change in the meantime?
This time, too, the most important thing will be to have a solid defence. We have practiced a lot this week to eliminate the mistakes we have made recently. The lesson from the last matches is that we have to be very careful in the start and the first half. We have to start the game like our opponents did last time. It's important that we take the lead and we can build on that to collect the three points.
We have won our two home matches so far, one league and one cup match against Diósgyőriek. Can the home pitch be a decisive factor this time?
Yes, the fact that we can play in the Sóstói Stadion, with the support and encouragement of our own fans, will make a big difference. I hope that together we can beat DVTK for the third time!
