Three important points are on offer at the weekend as a busy February begins.
Vidi are in action at the Ferenc Szusza stadium on Saturday evening in the OTP league match 18. Ujpest FC kicked off the 2019-2020 season with a 3-1 defeat at home to Puskas Academy. This was followed up by a 2-1 away success at DVTK. They have won 7 of the 17 league games and have lost the same amount of games. Three matches have ended in draws. The lilacs have conceded the third highest amount of goals in the league with 26 ending up in their own net. Only Kaposvar and Paks have let in more with 33 goals each, while DVSC have conceded 30. Ujpest have scored 23 goals, which puts them as sixth best in the league.
Robert Feczesin is top goalscorer with 8 goals and he leads the NB I table as a result. However, his move to second division Vasas means that another player is certain to top that amount in the first division. Other players to leave the Budapest club during the winter were Tamas Fadgyas to Nyiregyhaza, Lorant Kovacs (Sepsi OSK), Rosy Lubaki (free transfer), Karol Meszaros (SK Dynamo), and Bojan Szankovic (Irtis Pavlodar).
Naturally there were also arrivals on top of those players who left. Four players signed for Ujpest over the winter. Soma Novothny returned from South Korea. Corso Moussa Traore arrived from Swedish third division side. Andreias Calcan also joined from Romania having been a team mate of Lyes Houri.
"Calcan was my team mate in Romania with FC Viitorul. We were in the team that won the Romanian Cup and the Super Cup. He is an intelligent and fast forward. He played previously in the Dutch first division. He is just as good providing goals as he is with finishing off a move" - commented Lyes Houri.
Ujpest also brought in Patrik Bacsa from DVTK but his debut did not go according to plan as he was sent off early in the 4-0 defeat.
