Vidi scored through goals from Haraszti and Nikolics, but there were also three penalty decisions that went against the Fehervar side.
Videoton played their second match of the spring season at the home of Paks on Sunday evening. It was the closing fixture of weekend 19, with the majority of Vidi's rival's dropping points. There was a light wind making the weather cool for the 18:30pm kick off. The Fehervar side played in their away kit of light blue and white. There were also two familiar faces in the opposition, with former captain Gabor Horvath taking his place in the middle of their defence. They also had former Hungarian cup winning manager Aurel Csertoi on their manager's bench.
A free kick from Adam Gyurcso and a shot from Paks forward Simon were the efforts of the opening minutes, which both went over the bar. Vidi started to nicely and slowly take over the initiative, and there were a series of small chances, with Sandor trying his luck with both his foot and head. Gyurcso was brought down outside the box on 22 minutes. Haraszti, who was also facing his former club, sent a low curling effort in to the corner of the net, but Paks keeper Csernyanszki should have done better as the ball virtually went through his hands. (0-1).
Videoton continued to attack their opponents, with a Gyurcso cross providing danger in the home box. Paks, who went in to the match occupying a relegation place, then suddenly found themselves back in the match. A Paks shot in the 35th minute hit the hand of Marco Caneira, with referee Fabian awarding a free kick from around 20 meters out. Vidi's captain was given a yellow card for the handball. Heffler sent a curling ball in to the corner of the net giving Calatayud no chance and making the scores level. (1-1).
There were some promising crosses from Brachi and Nildo in the remaining 10 minutes, but Paks central pairing of Eger and Horvath were well placed to deal with them, often heading the ball clear. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 1-1.
The second half started with a shot from Sandor, which Csernyanszki saved. Delczeg went down the left before his cross in to the middle was headed in to his own net by Caneira. (2-1).
Calatayud, who had signed a contract extension with Videoton during the week, was then twice called on, with Simon and then Windecker both seeing their shot saved by the Spanish keeper. Zé Luis also caused danger in the 57th minute, with his shot clearly hitting a hand inside the penalty area, but referee Fabian did not give it. It was a very similar incident to the one previously with the Caneira handball. Calatayud dived to punch away a Bartha shot after 65 minutes. There was a big shout for another penalty involving Zé Luis, who was bundled to the floor, but yet again the match official decided against the visitors.
Videoton levelled the score in the 78th minute following a nice attacking move: Alvarez did well to turn his man, before finding Zé Luis in the middle, who headed the ball in to the path of the arriving Nikolics. The Vidi forward kept his composure to round the keeper and clip the ball in to the empty net. (2-2).
There were chances in front of both goals in the closing 10 minutes, but neither added to the scoreline. A home defender fouled Nikolics in the penalty area, but once again the referee did not see anything wrong.
The final score of 2-2 means that Vidi remain in second place, with a four point lead over third place Győr, who visit the Sostoi stadium next Sunday. Leaders Debrecen, who had earlier beaten Haladas 2-0, currently have a six point lead over Vidi.
