Macedonian officials for the Chelsea EL match

Vidi will face Chelsea in the final group match on Thursday evening at the Groupama Arena.

MOL Vidi FC will face Chelsea FC in match 6 of the EL group stage on Thursday evening. The game will kick off at 18:55pm at the Groupama Arena in Budapest. Macedonian referee Aleksander Stavrev will take charge of the important match.

The 41 year old has already officiated in 2 EL Group Matches and a further 3 in the qualifying rounds. He is also familiar with the Champions league and has 6 games under his belt including the 2012 BATE-Bayern 3-1 match. 

Stavrev has also worked at games at the Sostoi and was in charge of the 1-1 Champions League Q3 game with BATE in 2015. He had also been here for the 3-2 win over Sturm Graz in 2011, which was Vidi's first ever win in the Champions League. He is also familiar with DVSC having been an official in the 2010 DVSC-Metalist Kharkiv game (0-5) and the 2008 U19 Spain-Hungary 0-1 game. 

The Macedonian official has taken charge of 149 games in his own country and has shown 659 (average 4,4) yellows and 58 (0,26) red cards. He has also awarded 40 penalties (0,37 per match). Stavrev has a total of 57 games in the Europa League, Champions League and Intertoto cup. Those have produced an average of 4,4 yellows and 0,21 red cards with 0,08 penalties given.

2018-19-have seen the following matches officiated:

RB Leipzig-Hacken (9 yellow, 1 red)
Sporting Braga-Zorya Luhansk (11 yellow)
Qarabag-Sheriff (8 yellow) 

Group matches:

Malmö-Besiktas (5 yellow, 1 penalty)
Krasnodar-Standard Liége (6 yellow)

That gives him an average this season of 7,6 yellow, 0,2 red and 0,2 penalty kicks.

He will be assisted by Marjan Kirovski and Dejan Kostadinov, with fourth official being Nikola Kostadinov. The two officials behind the goals will be Dimitar Mechkarovski and Dejan Jakimovski.
