Videoton collected all three points in a confident win in Budapest.
There were cloudy conditions in Budapest for this Easter weekend fixture between Ujpest and Videoton. The pair played out the 25th round of the OTP league campaign with all three points heading back to Szekesfehervar.
Vidi began the game well with Sandor hitting a shot from a tight angle after 6 minutes, which Dmitrovics in the home goal saved well for a corner. Sandor remained in the thick of the action early on as he forced another good save from the Ujpest keeper.
The match became more balanced although there was no real danger in front of either goal following the bright start. Lazar had the first chance for the home side while Brachi and Zé Luis both had efforts, although neither caused any real danger. Videoton twice went close to opening the score in the final 5 minutes of the first half. Alvarez was first as he cut in from the right, before forcing a save from Dmitrovics. An Alvarez cross a couple of minutes later ended with a Zé Luis header on goal, but the home keeper was again equal to it. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.
The two teams ran out for the second half with no changes on either side. Vidi again started brightly as they had done in the first half. This time they were rewarded with goals. A defender blocked a shot from Zé Luis after 48 minutes, while the same player headed a corner kick wide of the post shortly after. Ujpest had no chance 10 minutes later as Vidi opened them up. Stopira crossed from the left and Zé Luis rose to powerfully head home from close range. (0-1.)
The score was doubled two minutes later when Nikolics found Zé Luis with a smart pass. Zé Luis powered into the box before shooting beyond the keeper towards the far corner of the net to make it 0-2.
Ujpest changed things and pushed forward in search of a way back. However, they found a strong Videoton defence in their way for the majority of the game. They did manage to score a consolation goal after 81 minutes. Suljic found Kabat free on the right, and the veteran striker made no mistake as he found the corner to make it 1-2.
Ujpest opened up more in the final 10 minutes, which resulted in the visiting side forcing several dangerous counter attacks. Kovacs came on towards the end in place of two goal Zé Luis, but Vidi held out to collect all three points with a good win in the capital.
Vidi are next in action on the 26th April with an away game at Puskas Academy in Felcsut.
