Vidi drew their first leg in Bulgaria 0-0 and there is all to play for in the second leg in Felcsut next week.
Vidi were in Champions League Q2 action at the home of the Bulgarian champions on Wednesday evening. Ludogorets had beaten their Northern Ireland opponents 9-0 over two legs in Q1. Vidi overcame opponents from Luxembourg to make it through. There were around 5000 inside the stadium with a few in the visiting section as well.
Marko Nikolic was forced into a change during the warm up as Anel Hadzic had to be replaced by Boban Nikolov. The game started at a quick pace with Ludogorets having a chance through the head of Lucas after 5 minutes. A Keseru cross was also well saved by keeper Kovacsik. Vidi had to rely again on their keeper on the quarter hour mark when a Sasha shot from 20 meters had to be dealt with. Wanderson then showed good movement to lift the ball above Kovacsik, but Fiola raced back to clear the ball off his line.
The first chance for the visitors came after 20 minutes when Kovacs shot wide of the home goal. Keseru then had a big chance four minutes later for Ludogorets. His effort from 7 meters curled wide of the far post. Kovacsik made perhaps his best safe after 34 minutes when a ball from Marcelinho deflected off a defender and the keeper managed to react to it in the final moment.
The sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0. Vidi really battled well in the first half while the home side could not find a way through the well marshalled defence.
The red and blues had a big chance after 47 minutes when a Stopira header had to be saved by the Ludogorets keeper. The second half was 10 minutes old when Wanderson shot a powerful low effort that went wide of the right post.
With 76 minutes played, a Swierczok shot from 16 meters bounced uncomfortably in front of Kovacsik, but the keeper still managed to get down and deal well with it. The second half was littered with fouls and the physios of both sides had work to do.
The Fehervar side continued to defend heroically and in the end the final whistle blew with no goals scored. The second leg will take place next week in Felcsut with a 20:00pm kick off.
