We visit ESMTK in the Hungarian Cup on Saturday

Last season, ESMTK finished third in the Central Group of NB III and qualified for the last 16 in the MOL Hungarian Cup.

ESMTK was founded 114 years ago, in 1909. The club's most successful period was between 1945 and 1949, when it was in the Hungarian top flight on three occasions. ESMTK's best finish in the NB I was in 1945, when they finished 7th.

So far, we have played ESMTK 14 times, mostly in the NB II in the '60s, but we have also played a few friendly matches against the team from the 20th district. Our biggest success against them came on the 21st August 1960, when we won 7-0 in a NB II league match at the Sóstói Stadium. The all-time record is 7 Vidi wins, 5 draws and 2 Pesterzsébet victories. The goal difference is 33-10 in our favour. The last time we played a friendly match against ESMTK was 21 years ago, in 2002, when we won 6-1.

Saturday's cup opponent has been mostly playing in NB III in the past years and decades. Last year was one of their most successful seasons, as they finished third in the championship in the Central Group, and in the MOL Hungarian Cup they reached the last 16, where they only lost to NB I Kisvárda with an own goal in the 123rd minute.

Zoltán Turi, the head coach of the Pesterzsébet team, is one of the longest serving coaches in the country, having been with the same team for 12 years - since March 2011. To give you an idea of how long it has been since Zoltán Turi took charge of the team from District XX, Vidi have won three league titles, two Super Cups, one League Cup, one Hungarian Cup and twice reached the group stage of the Europa League.

After 7 rounds of the current season, ESMTK is in 4th place in the table with 4 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. In the MOL Hungarian Cup, our cup opponents have beaten Harta SE (3-1) and Szarvasi FC (5-1).
