We played a goalless draw in Angyalföld, as Puskás Akadémia beat Budapest Honvéd, so we will play in the OTP Bank League in the 2023/2024 season.
In the final, 33rd round of the OTP Bank Liga, our team played away at Vasas FC. Bartosz Grzelak sent the team out of Kovács D. - Bese, Csongvai, Stopira, Heister - Flores, Makarenko - Kastrati, Kodro, Schön - Dárdai on to the pitch for this very important game, so our starting line-up did not change after the win against ZTE FC.
The first shot came from Szilágyi for Vasas, whose long-range attempt in the 4th minute missed the goal. In the 12th minute, our former player Berecz powered over the goal from 15. We were still threatening after a quarter of an hour, but Heister's shot to the near bottom corner was saved by János Uram. After five minutes Kovács was at work, having to save Hinora's shot. Another three minutes passed and Novothny's pass was headed towards goal by Ihrig-Farkas, but Kovács was alert. On the counter-attack, the VAR-checked a penalty for a possible Vasas offence, but the game carried on. The second half was quieter, Bese had to make a great tackle, then Dániel Kovács was treated for an injury and in extra time Csonvai headed wide from a sharp angle.
Bartosz Grzelak made no substitution at the break, with Iyinbor coming on for Otigba for the home side. We had a big advantage at this stage of the game, but we couldn't create any real chances. In the 67th minute Dardai had to be replaced by Mátyás Katona due to injury. Four minutes after his introduction Katona tested the Vasas goalkeeper with a long shot, but the ball was heading to the middle, it was not really dangerous. In the 73rd minute, Kodro also turned and then shot from 22, but our striker couldn't find the net. Ten minutes later, Schön found himself in a shooting position, but he curled the ball over the top from 14 yards out. In the 89th minute, Houri replaced Kastrati. The result remained unchanged in the second half, but Puskás Akadémia beat Budapest Honvéd 2-1 and that meant we stay in the OTP Bank League.
