Vidi emerge winners in a seven goal match

Videoton picked up all three points in the 100th match between the two clubs.

The two teams met each other at the Illovszky stadium in Budapest, which is the home of Vasas. That was due to Ujpest's stadium currently being redeveloped. The two clubs also came face to face in what was the 100th match between the two. Vidi went into the game with the statistics of having won two more matches than their opponents.

Henning Berg went with the same starting eleven that had most recently defeated Haladas 3-0 in the league. The match started at a good pace with Ujpest being the more active. The first action came on 11 minutes when a ball in from the left was not headed out too well, and the ball fell to the home sides Windecker, who after letting the ball bounce, just sent his shot wide of the post. Vidi came back into the game and started to control things, which brought a reward. The breakthrough arrived on 26 minutes for the visiting team. Danko Lazovic took a free kick from 23 meters out. The forward did really well to curl the ball wide of the wall and into the back of the net (0-1)!

Vidi could have extended their lead from the resulting kick off. Feczesin released Oliveria, who from 9 meters out brought out a save from Ujpest keeper Balajcza. Vidi did double their lead on 30 minutes! Feczesin played a fine ball to Geresi, who calmly picked out the bottom right corner from 13 meters. (0-2).

Adam Kovacsik then produced one of the best saves of the season so far after 33 minutes. Balogh had the ball around the Vidi box, before aiming for the top right corner, but the keeper did very well to deny him with a great stop. The red and blues were celebrating another goal close to the end of the first half. A good attacking move ended with the ball at Lazovic, who found Stopira with a good pass, and the left back made no mistake to beat Balajcza and make it 0-3.

It seemed as if Vidi would have an easy second half, but Ujpest had other thoughts. They came straight at Videoton from the start and placed lots of pressure on Adam Kovacsik and his defenders. The Vidi keeper pulled off a good save from a Bardhi shot after 48 minutes. Diarra then found himself with a chance on goal three minutes later, but Kovacsik was again on hand to deny the home side.

Ujpest then came back into the game in the following 5 minutes as they scored twice. A cross from Diarra was headed into the back of the net from Windecker. Then Andric played Diarra in and he cooly made it 2-3. Vidi then went down the other end and almost got their two goal advantage back. Substitute Scepovic shot from a tight angle, but Nagy managed to deny him, while the resulting corner ended with Balajcza saving at close range from Stopira.

The 59th minute saw Nego test the home keeper, while at the other end after 68 minutes, Bardhi curled a free kick at goal, which Kovacsik saved from under his own bar. The game had tempo and was end to end with both teams having chances at goal. The score became 2-4 after 70 minutes when Patkai was fortunate to get the ball, and the midfielder made no mistake with his powerful shot from close range (2-4).

With 10 minutes remaining of an exciting game in Budapest, Kovacsik produced yet another good save from an 18 meters Diarra shot, with the ball heading in the bottom left hand corner until the keeper's intervention. The three minutes of injury time included a third goal for Ujpest. Bardhi hit a very good goal from 23 meters out, following a free kick, but it proved to be a consolation goal as the full time whistle blew. Videoton picked up the 3 points and with leaders Vasas losing 1-0 at Haladas, the gap between Videoton and Vasas is now just 3 points!

Vidi are next in action on Wednesday evening with a game against Ferencvaros at the Pancho Arena. The match in Felcsut will kick off at 20:00pm.
