Vidi beat Aris Limassol with Kodro's double

The final score of 2-1 was settled in the first half, but the second half also gave the teams scoring opportunities.

Our second summer friendly match was played against Aris Limassol from Cyprus in Gornja Radgona, on the Slovenian side of the Austrian-Slovenian border. The match was watched by around 40 Vidi fans, as well as the coaching staff of DVSC, who were training nearby, and Honvéd players, including Donát Zsótér and Nikola Mitrovic, who also played for Vidi in the past. This time our team started the match with the line-up Kovácsik - Serafimov, Fiola, Shabanov - Nego, Pokorny, Makarenko, Heister - Funsho, Petryak - Kodro.

The first chance came in the 2nd minute for Aris Limassol, Yiannik received a good ball, broke inside our box and shot from 14 meters, which saw Kovácsik save the effort. Five minutes later, the spirited Spoljaric took aim from 18 metres out, with Kovácsik making a diving save. A minute later, Aris Limassol missed a very big chance, Spoljaric passed from the left wing low in front of goal, but Yiannik missed the ball from five metres. In the 10th minute, another Spoljaric shot and a Kovácsik save were recorded.

In the 14th minute we approached the Cypriot goal for the first time, but then Petryak won a penalty, which Kodro very calmly converted (1-0). We were not to be happy for long, as ten minutes later Brown crossed from the left wing and Spoljaric sent his looping header into the top left corner from seven metres (1-1).

In the 40th minute, Petryak received a well-paced free-kick and passed from the left wing to Kodro, who was empty in the middle and made no mistake from seven metres (2-1). Aris Limassol could have equalised before the break, but Struski's 18-metre shot hit the crossbar.

At the break, the Cypriots changed the team while Rus replaced Pokorny. The second period started with a great Cypriot chance, Kovácsik saved a long range shot, but the rebound fell to Thodoros, who fired a shot from 6 meters, from the opposite side of the goal. In the 58th minute, a close-range header from a corner was saved bravely by the Aris Limassol goalkeeper.

In the 61st minute, Kovácsik, Petryak, Makarenko, Funsho, and Kodro came off, to be replaced by Kovács, Dárdai, Pinto, Lednev and Zivzivadze. After a few minutes, Dárdai fed Zivzivadze a free-kick and he shot at goal from 10 metres, but the ball got caught in the foot of the diving Cypriot goalkeeper and Dárdai fired the rebound against the crossbar from close range. Ten minutes later, Yanis turned and had a shot, but Kovács made a great save to keep it out for a a corner. From the corner kick, Thodoros headed at goal from four metres out, but our goalkeeper again made an incredible save. With five minutes to go, Slogar's shot was cleared off the line by Rus and the result remained the same as our team beat Aris Limassol 2-1.

We play our last friendly training match on Wednesday 13th July at 19:00 against Galatasaray in Hartberg.
