It is nights like these that makes being a football fan worthwhile. Three points were needed and they were delivered by a Videoton side, which has produced good attacking football over the course of a long season. 2010/2011 began with the Europa league qualifying rounds and ended at the Sostoi stadium, with the league title secured. It is the first league championship for Videoton, and it has been a long time coming. Kaposvar arrived and they planned to make it difficult for Gyorgy Mezey's side. The visitors were hard to break down, but in the end Nikolics managed to do just that. He showed great skill infront of goal, and finished well past a stranded Kovacs in the Kaposvar goal. A healthy crowd of just under 8,000 turned out to see history made, and they were not to be disappointed, although there may have been some in the crowd who thought it wasn't going to be Vidi's night, when Kaposvar's substitute headed in from close range to make it an interesting finish.

Vidi did not let their heads go down, and stepped things up, taking the game to the visitors. The all important goal came from substitute Polonkai who unleashed a half volley in to the corner of the net, after 81 minutes, and from then on, there was only ever going to be one winner. The crowd rose to their feets, singing, clapping and supporting their heroes on to the final whistle. There was more joy in the 89th minute, when Szakaly was played through on goal, and he wrapped up a great night's football with the third and final goal, which gave Videoton three points, and more importantly means that the champagne corks will be popping all night. The only sad point of the evening was the sending off of Andras Gosztonyi in time added on, but that failed to put a dampner on things.

Congratulations Videoton - 2010/2011 League champions for the first time!!!
