Videoton FC produced a very good performance to put themselves very much in the driving seat in this two leg thriller. Both teams had a busy and tough winter pre-season, but it was Vidi who produced another good performance on the back of Wednesday's league cup win at Diosgyőr. Many thought that Paulo Sousa's side had been drawn against the toughest opponents possible, at the time of the cup draw. In the end this match produced the biggest goal difference. Both teams began the game carefully trying to gain the upper hand. The first 10 minutes produced good entertaining football. The match turned on 14 minutes following an error from Molnar in the Győr goal. Walter kept his calm to run on to the mistake and shoot hard across the face of goal, into the far corner of the net. Koltai had the first chance for Győr a few minutes later. However, he was unable to bring his side level, as his shot flew over the bar. ETO had more possession, after falling behind, but were unable to take advantage against a well marshalled home defence.

There was another error after 38 minutes from the visitors, when Pilibaitis lost possession in the middle of the pitch. Kovacs collected the ball and delivered a fantastic ball over to Oliveira, who showed good skill, before being pulled down by Feher. The referee pointed at the spot and Nikolics confidently made it 2-0 to the home side. Vidi carried on where they had left off in the first half. Kovacs broke into the box, and the midfielder was brought down, giving the referee no option but to point to the penalty spot again. Sandor got hold of the ball and the captain sent his penalty high to the top corner of the net to make it 3-0. Győri ETO had no answer for a dominating and disciplined Vidi side. The score became 4-0 after 66 minutes with a powerful low volley from Oliveira following good work from Walter.

Hungarian Cup QF results
Kaposvar - Debrecen 0-1
Bekescsaba - MTK 0-3
Baja - Ujpest 1-3
Videoton - Győr ETO 5-1

ETO did manage to pull a goal back after 85 minutes, when Windecker powerfully shot through a crowded area, despite the brave efforts of Bozsovics to keep the ball out. However, Vidi went back down the other end, with Gyurcso running onto a long ball before lobbing Molnar, with the alert Torghelle touching it home on the line to make it 5-1!You could say that the return leg will be a formality, but you cannot under estimate a Győr side, who will surely make a match of it in the second leg. Vidi have more than one foot in the semi finals thanks to this impressive home display.
