Second placed Kecskemét TE visit the MOL Arena Sóstó on Saturday

Saturday's opponents have played the most draws so far this season and have suffered the fewest defeats.

On Saturday at 15:00 last season's promoted side Kecskemét TE will visit the MOL Arena Sóstó. This will be the 17th top flight match between the two teams. Of the 16 meetings so far, we have won 9 and drawn 2 and lost 5. The goal difference is 31-20 in our favour, which means a goals per game average of 3.2.

12 years ago, in 2011, we played against Kecskemét TE in the Hungarian Cup final, and our first champion team lost 3-2 in that match. The last time the team of the Hirös town played in the top league was in the 2014/2015 season and although they managed to finish 9th under the guidance of coach Bekő, KTE did not start the following season due to the lack of a NB I licence, the naming rights company practically ceased to exist.

In Kecskemét, the adult team of KLC-KTE remained the highest division team, which meant the County I championship, i.e. the fourth division. In the winter of 2016, Kecskeméti LC Kft. was founded, which took over the operation of the adult team from the sports school, and in the summer of 2017, Horváth Építőmester Zrt.

In 2016, the team finished fourth, in 2017 KLC was relegated to second place in a big battle, but in 2018 they managed to win the championship with an almost flawless performance, and after a successful qualification against Hajdúböszörmény, the team was promoted to the NB III, where they finished second behind Iváncsa in the 2020/2021 season, but since the Fejér County team did not play in the NB II, Kecskemét could start in the second division in the 2021/2022 season. Surprisingly, KTE finished second behind Vasas in NB II last season, and the purple and white team made it from NB III to NB I in two years.

The Kecskemét miracle continues in the top flight, with Kecskemét in second place after 27 rounds, having suffered the fewest defeats in the entire league - three. Apart from us, only Mezőkövesd have beaten Kecskemét in the top flight so far this season, with Attila Kuttor's side winning at home and in Kecskemét.

KTE are unbeaten away from home in six games in the league, while we have not been beaten at home in 11 games, the last time we lost to Újpest in a league game at the MOL Arena Sóstó was last October. Since then no other NB I team has such a long home unbeaten streak as we have.

The most successful player of Kecskemét TE is Bálint Katona, who has seven goals and is the brother of our midfielder Mátyás Katona.
