Perfect farewell: Roland Juhasz scores winning goal

A penalty from the long serving captain on his final home match made it a great farewell.

In the 32nd round of the OTP Bank League, we hosted FTC at the MOL Arena Sóstó. Roland Juhász, who will be ending his playing career at the end of the season, and Paulo Vinícius, who will leave Vidi after 9 years, said goodbye in this match. Accordingly, the two players were greeted before the start: first Zoltán Kovács, sports director handed over a gift to Vinícius, and then on behalf of Ferencváros, Pál Orosz, CEO and Tamás Hajnal, sports manager greeting Roland Juhász, and finally Zoltán Kovács also handed over Roland Juhász a special presentation. Our team captain also said goodbye to the supporters through a microphone to those who had supported him in a few sentences, and then the cheering began.

The match started with a chance here and there. First Sihnevich's shot went across the face of our goal, then Stopira's cross was met by Nego but it went wide. In the 8th minute, Petryak's pass was headed at goal by Vinícius but Grof saved it. Two minutes later, Sihnevich threatened again, aiming for the short bottom corner from 8 meters, Kovácsik did well to deny him. In the 19th minute, Isael's long shot bounced uncomfortably in front of Kovácsik, but our goalkeeper was still able to palm the ball away from the corner.

Not long after, Houri curled a free kick in front of the goal, and it went in front of Hodzic, who fired from 6 yards at goal, but a defender was able to connect and it went out for a corner at the last minute. In the 23rd minute, the fans greeted Roland Juhász with loud applause! In the 30th minute, Vidi had a big chance: Hodzic found Petrjak on the left wing, who brought Nikolics into the game in the middle, our striker shot from 10 meters, but Grof was able to save the big chance. In the 43rd minute, Stopira's shot was caught by Grof.

We took the lead just before the break, through a penalty by Roland Juhász: Heister hit the ball with his hand in front of his own goal, and referee Balázs Berke awarded a penalty. Our team captain fired very confidently into the right side of the goal (1-0)!

Neither team made any change for the second half. In the 48th minute, Kovácsik collected a curling shot from Isael. In the 56th minute Petryak hit a bit long to Nikolics, who was in a great position, but our striker played the ball out to the wing, and Petrjak volleyed at goal, but the ball stuck Frimpong's hand, but this time the referee did not award a penalty! 3 minutes later Sihnevich fired from 14 meters wide of our goal. In the 62nd minute Petryak found Pátkai in a nice position, who shot low from 15 meters, but Grof saved well. At the other end, Heister's long shot just missed our goal.

The action continued and four minutes later, Nikolov tried from the edge of the box but the ball went wide of the bottom left corner. There was 81 minutes on the clock when Funsho fired from a tight angle into the side netting. There was still time for a shot from Stopira from close range that Grof dealt with. The 5 minutes of injury time also included a massive round of applause from the supporters as Juhasz came off to be replaced by Musliu.

There were no further chances and the game ended in a 1-0 win over FTC. Roland Juhasz scored the only goal in what was his farewell game. We are next in action on Saturday when we travel to ZTE.
