Match Report: Draw in the autumn big game

The two teams played out a good 1-1 draw to take a point each on Wednesday evening.

The big game of autumn took place on Wednesday evening at the Pancho Arena in Felcsut. Videoton, who were champions in 2015 came up against last season's champions Ferencvaros. Henning Berg made three changes to the team that faced Ujpest most recently. Varga, Scepovic and Fiola came in to the starting eleven for Oliveira, Feczesin and Fejes.

The game started quietly with both teams taking their time to get into the game. Visiting striker Daniel Bode lasted 13 minutes before having to come off with an injury. Cukic came on to replace him and he was soon threatening the home goal as his 20 meters curling shot brought out a lovely save from Kovacsik. The Videoton keeper dived to keep out the ball, which was heading for the top left corner. The next real chance came after 33 minutes when Geresi was on the end of a counter attack. His shot went over the bar following a lovely move.

Djuricin then saw his 38th minute shot go over the bar, while a minute later, Lazovic sent a low drive straight at keeper Dibusz. The first half did not have too many chances but there were plenty of good battles on the Felcsut pitch.

Oliveira came on at half time in place of midfielder Patkai and Vidi were quick to find the breakthrough. Geresi was very selfish on 53 minutes and his curling shot from 15 meters, was saved by Dibusz, but the rebound fell again to Geresi, who was fouled. Referee Szabo pointed straight at the penalty spot. Scepovic stood behind the ball and confidently scored from the spot kick to give Vidi a 1-0 lead. It was also his first goal in the NB1 since recently arriving at the end of the summer transfer window.

Vidi could have extended their lead on the hour mark. Lazovic saw his header go just the wrong side of the post after a lovely ball in from Nego. The action continued as Seungwoo curled a ball in from the right towards goal for the arriving Djuricin to see his close range header well saved by Kovacsik. A fine move involving Lazovic, Oliveira and Scepovic was not finished off on 72 minutes with the visiting defender managing to get back and clear the danger. Kovacsik then pulled off another fine save following a close range shot.

The final 20 minutes of a good match saw the Ferencvaros grab an equaliser. Djuricin, who was the most active visiting forward scored after 83 minutes after Vidi failed to clear from a free kick. The Austrian forward curled a ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1.

There were no further serious chances in front of either goal in the final minutes. Referee Szabo blew for full time and the two sides shared a point after a 1-1 result. Vidi will now travel to Budapest on Saturday to face Honved in Kispest.
