Henning Berg: We need more than this

The two managers shared their thoughts following Wednesday's 1-1 draw.

Henning Berg:

"I am always a little disappointed when we lead 1-0 with less than 10 minutes remaining, but we do not end up winning. We had a good chance to score a second goal, and we have managed to score goals in the games before this one, but things turned out different this time. If I am honest, we did not play that well tonight in the way I know we can. We did look good for parts of the second half. We need more and the 1-1 score was a realistic one based on our performance. It is never easy and we conceded a strange goal towards the end. We should have defended that situation much better. Ferencvaros did not have too many chances, but there were a couple of scrappy chances on the edge of the penalty box, but they could not really find a way through us. As to whether the players were nervous? I did not feel that they were, but it is true that we did not play at the level that we are capable of today. I hope that we will learn from our mistakes today and that we will be able to dominate the next game against Ferencvaros."

Thomas Doll:

"The supporters saw a good league game. Both sides placed great emphasis on being tactically prepared. We lost Daniel Bode early on due to an injury and we had to rearrange things quickly. The two teams did not leave to much for the other side, and there were chances from set pieces. We had 1-2 counter attacks, and we could have done better with them. We should have cleared the ball before they were given the penalty. There were several interesting decisions made by the referee against us. Sometimes it is better to allow a game to flow rather than hand out yellow cards all the time. I did not understand a couple of those decisions. We need to gain strength as we have another important game in 3 days time."
