Haladas come away from the Sostoi with a win

The game kicked off in lovely sunshine in the early evening in Szekesfehervar. It was the first home league match of the new season. Haladas were the opponents and both sides were eager to erase the memory of an opening day defeat. Haladas suffered a 2-0 home defeat at the hands of FTC a week earlier.

Veteran keeper Gabor Kiraly was in goal for the visitors while defender Roland Juhasz lined up in the heart of the Vidi defence. The two players have the most international caps between them.

Vidi started the game actively but there was almost 15 minutes on the clock before the first chance arrived. Koltai sent a ball in to the middle, which was met with a first time effort from Patkai from 14 meters out. That went just wide of the left post. Ivanovski then released Oliveira who tried to lift the ball over Kiraly, but his effort was parried by the big keeper. The rebound fell to Koltai whose first time shot produced another smart stop from Kiraly. Oliveira then skipped past his marker a minute later, before powerfully shooting at goal from 15 meters out. Kiraly was again well positioned to deal with the danger.

Haladas found the back of the net after 32 minutes but Medgyes was offside and the goal did not stand. The heavy winds arrived with 10 minutes left of the first period. However, the promised storm did not materialize. Wils headed at goal from 10 meters out following a ball in from the left on 40 minutes. That brought a good save out of Danilovics in the home goal. It was Vidi who were directing things for the majority of the first half, with the exception of one or two dangerous counter attacks from Haladas. The two sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.

Bernard Casoni brought of the injured Simon and replaced him with Fejes. The second period begun in a nightmare. The 49th minute ended with Juhasz flicking on an Ugrai ball from the left beyond his keeper and into the back of the net. (0-1). New Juventus loanee Alhassane Soumah came on for his first taste of league football on 55 minutes. Visiting player Martinez then found himself with a good chance on goal, but his attempt to lift the ball over Danilovics ended with the keeper emerging better off.

Vidi went close to levelling on 73 minutes. Kiraly again saved very well from Soumah, with the rebound falling to Gyurcso, but he also could not find a way past the veteran keeper. A flat ball in from the left by Fejes saw Patkai connect from close range, but his shot came back off Kiraly. Haladas then did everything to protect their lead in the remaining minutes of the game. Vidi failed to create a real chance in the final moments, which eventually saw the visitors pick up all three points.

Vidi are next in action in the Champions League on Tuesday evening. BATE Borisov are the visitors for the Q3, first leg match, which will kick off at 20:30pm.
