We took the lead with a goal from our Slovenian striker at the end of the first half, and despite the many absentees we dominated throughout to win an important victory against the Blue and Whites from the capital, who started the season in a great way
In the match against MTK Budapest, Tamás Pető could not count on the long-time injured Zsolt Kalmár, the recently operated duo of Gergő Ominger and Lirim Kastrati, and Bence Babos, who is rehabilitating after his ankle injury, and András Huszti, who was absent due to tonsillitis, while Filip Holender missed the match due to the birth of his child.

After Balázs Tóth signed for Blackburn Rovers in England, Székesfehérvár-born Dala Martin made his debut in goal for Vidi. Tamás Pető sent out the eleven of Dala - Melnyik, Serafimov, Spandler, Milicevic - Csongvai - Kovács M., Pető, Stefanelli, Katona - Gradisar.
We started the game well, with a lot of running and high attacking, we made it difficult for the team from the capital. Spandler and Hej fought a head-to-head, the blue and white player was injured and had to be substituted later. In the 17th minute, Milicevic's good cross was met by Mátyás Kovács on the far post, who missed the target. The first half of the first period saw a combative Fehérvar and a mostly defensive MTK.
In the 20th minute, Dala making his debut, first pushed Polievka's 12-metre shot wide with a great tip away and then fisting a corner out of the box. After the pressure, the visitors were emboldened and in the 35th minute, Horváth's dangerous shot was blocked by Spandler. In the 41st minute, Katona dived between the defenders and the goalkeeper, to poke the ball away, but Varju cleared from the onrushing Gradisar.
In the 46th minute of the half, we took the lead: Stefanelli's cross from the right was headed into the net by Gradisar, who beat the defender (1-0).
The second half also started with a Vidi chance: Stefanelli set up Katona, who powered into the side netting. The next chance was taken by our Argentine striker, his shot was saved by Demjén, as was the attempt by Bedi, who replaced Milan Pető in the 62nd minute. MTKs goalkeeper didn't rest, in the 65th minute he also saved Katona's long-range free kick from the bottom left corner.
The head coaches made substitutions to freshen up their team. MTK tried to lead attacks, but their play lacked penetration. In the 76th minute Christensen and Patrik Kovács came on for Mátyás Kovács and Gradisar, and in the closing minutes Berki and Simut came on for Stefanelli and Katona. We maintained the lead confidently, the blue and whites posed no threat to Dala's goal.
The game could have been decided in the 83rd minute; Christensen fired a beautiful shot into the far post. Dala's bravery was all that was left in the end: in the dying moments, he made a fine save from Kocsis' header and then he also got on the end of Polievka's shot from 12 metres.
After six minutes of extra time, the result remained unchanged. Despite the many absentees, our team beat MTK with a fighting game.
