Schön hit a double, Kastrati and Dárdai also scored in the last match of the year at the MOL Arena Sósto.
In the last, 16th round of the OTP Bank Liga this year, our team hosted Kisvárda, the second place team in the table, in the MOL Arena Sósto. Head coach Szabolcs Huszti changed two positions in the starting eleven from Wednesday's game: Kovács D. - Bese, Serafimov, Fiola, Stopira - Pokorny, Lednev - Menyhárt, Houri, Schön - Dárdai took to the pitch. Our home-grown player, Zsombor Menyhárt, who made his debut as a substitute against Honvéd, got his first start, while Barnabás Bese came in for Loic Nego, who was missing due to a minor muscle injury. Before the match started, we remembered the recently deceased legend of our club, Mihály Tímár, with a minutes silence.
Our team started more active, Menyhárt got free in the third minute, and then we had two corner kicks. After the first quarter of an hour, Camaj and Makowski had efforts to score for the visitors, but neither of them threatened Dániel Kovács. In the 25th minute, we took the lead: Szabolcs Schön took the ball from Dardai and shot into the left side of the goal from the penalty area (1-0)! Four minutes later, Dániel Kovács made a spectacular save, when from Camaj's left-wing cross, Navratil aimed for the near bottom corner, and our goalkeeper saved with his foot. A minute later, Kovacic's close-range header went over the top, but in the 31st minute there was another Vidi goal! On the counter attack, Schön received the ball from Dardai on the left and fired into the far bottom corner from a sharp angle (2-0).
In the second half of the first half, there were no big situations on either side, and the teams went to the break with Vidi enjoying a two-goal lead. Neither head coach made a substitution at the break and we created our first chance in the 53rd minute when Lednev's corner was headed over by Bese's. Menyhárt was replaced by Kastrati, and Kisvárda were back in the game in the 62nd minute: a scramble from a corner was headed into the path of Makowski, who shot into the bottom left corner (2-1).
However, our response came quickly, in the 65th minute Lednev launched Kastrati, who had come on six minutes earlier, from behind the defence, who pushed the ball past the poorly outstretched Odyntsov and passed into the empty goal (3-1)! Houri's free-kick from a good position missed the top right corner and Lednev was replaced by Kodro for the last 20 minutes. In the second half, Kastrati's cross was volleyed in from a sharp angle as Dárdai scored with a fine shot (4-1)! In the last minutes, Bence Kovács made his debut in the NB I, our young player replaced Schön and our team ended the year 2022 with a nice victory.
