Our club has bought the 25-year-old left-back's playing rights from ZTE FC.
ZTE FC and our club agreed a deal on Wednesday, which will see Bence Gergényi continue his career in Vidi!
Born on the 16th March 1998 in Budapest, Bence Gergényi was already a player of Budapest Honvéd in 2008. He made his senior debut for the Kispest club in the NB III reserve team, and then spent half a year on loan in Szeged before playing a big part in ZTE's promotion in 2019.
Since then, apart from a brief stint in Lendvai (the second division championship in Slovenia, which was suspended in spring 2020 due to the pandemic, but our new left-back was able to play in the Slovenian Cup final), he has been a stalwart of Zalaegerszeg, wearing the blue and white shirt in a total of 138 matches, scoring five goals and providing 16 assists, and when asked to play further forward on the left, he kept up the good performances.
Our new signing was a regular member of the youth national teams, he played six times for the U21 team and celebrated a Hungarian cup victory in 2023 as a member of ZTE in the Puskás Arena.
"I am very happy to be here today. I have discussed with those close to me that it is a huge opportunity and a step forward in my career to play football for Vidi in the future. I arrived extremely motivated, I can't wait to join the team and go through my first training session at Vidi", said Bence Gergényi in the moments after signing the contract.
"With the departure of Márió Zeke, we definitely wanted to solve the left-back position and we were thinking about a Hungarian player first and foremost. Bence has already proven himself on several occasions that he is a reliable and good player. It was very positive for us that from the very first moment it was clear in our discussions that Bence really wants to play football here in Székesfehérvár. I am happy that he joined us, I am sure that he will be a useful member of Vidi in a short time" - commented our sporting director Roland Juhász.
Bence Gergényi's contract is valid for two plus one years, and he will appear on the pitch in the number 44 shirt.
