The Vidi wide man played twice for his country last week scoring the only goal in 180 minutes of football.
"It was a big honor for me to once again play for the national side, and especially against two very strong sides, who will be participating in the World Cup in Brazil. I have no problems at all that my summer break will begin a little later, which I will spend with my family and girlfriend in Houston. Although we did not manage to reach the targets with Vidi during the season, I am sure that the next campaign will be much better. I felt that I managed to produce a balanced performance overall, but of course I am not saying that I am completely satisfied with the way I played. | Arturo Álvarez came on as a 72nd minute substitute for El Salvador in their game against the Ivory Coast (1-2). He scored from the penalty spot four minutes later to get a consolation goal. He was then picked in the starting eleven two days later, in the friendly match against World and European champions Spain. Alvarez played 65 minutes in the game, which Spain won 2-0. |
"I do not really have a favourite team for the World Cup, and I feel that several countries have a chance of winning the tournament. I am sure that both holders Spain and hosts Brazil will feature. I am also interested to see how the USA does."
