Alvarez scores a stunner in the Central American Cup

Vidi's winger will be trying his best to help his country secure third place in the concacaf cup.

El Salvador faced Guatemala in the first match on the 3rd September, which they lost 2-1. It is interesting to see that Salvador's goal in that match was scored by Burgos, who had earlier played his football with Hungarian sides Kecskemet and Győri ETO. Alvarez came on as a 62nd minute substitute. He was in the starting line-up three days later, when his country met Honduras. The exciting match ended in a 1-0 win for them. The final group match saw El Salvador up against Belize. Goals from Alvarez and Burgos gave them a 2-0 win. The Videoton player scored a fantastic goal in that match, which can be seen in the video below.

Alvarez and his national side ended up behind Guatemala in Group A, and they will battle it out for third place on the 13th September against Panama, who also came second in Group B. The actual final will be played between Guatemala and seven times concacaf winners Costa Rica on Saturday. Alvarez will link up with the Videoton squad when he comes back on Monday, so he is sure to miss out on this weekend's league match with Ujpest FC.
