Three league points are on offer at the weekend as Vidi look to pick up their first league win of the season.
Our team will play in Gyirmót on Saturday at 20:30 in the 3rd round of the OTP Bank Liga against one of the newcomers of the NB I. Aurél Csertői's side finished second in the NB II at the end of the 2020/2021 season, to some surprise, but not undeservedly, so earning the right to play in the top flight after winjing promotion.
The Hungarian spine of the squad stayed together for the NB I in the summer, but of course Gyirmót also tried to strengthen the squad with a few transfers. They signed ex-Diósgyőr, Kosovo international Florent Hasani and former Kisvárda midfielder Cornel Ené, while four-time Croatian U21 international defender Frane Ikic also signed during the week. Several players have Vidis ties, with Martin Major leaving Fehérvár permanently in the summer and Márió Zeke on loan at the Győr club, while keeper András Hársfalvi was part of our first team squad for the 2018 league title and 2019 Hungarian Cup victory celebrations.
In Gyirmót FC only NB I season so far (2016/2017), we met our Saturday opponents three times, winning twice 4-0 and once 1-0, all three times with Ádám Kovácsik in our goal, and the first goal of the match was scored by our current assistant coach, Roland Juhász.
