Third placed Kecskemét TE visit the MOL Arena Sóstó on Wednesday evening

The newcomer were promoted in the summer and are still unbeaten in the NB I after five rounds.

On Wednesday evening at 19:30, Kecskemét TE, returning to the top league this year, will visit our home, the MOL Arena Sóstó. This will be the 15th NB I league match between the two teams, so far we have won eight times, lost four times and drawn twice. We have the same record against each other at home and away: four wins, two defeats and one draw.

Eleven years ago, in 2011, we played against Kecskemét TE in the Hungarian Cup final, and our first champion league side lost 3-2 in that match. The last time the team from the Hirös town played in the top league was in the 2014/2015 season and although they managed to finish 9th under the guidance of coach Bekő, KTE did not start a team due to the lack of a NB I licence, the naming rights company practically ceased to exist.

In Kecskemét, the adult team of KLC-KTE SI remained the highest division team, which meant the County I championship, i.e. the fourth division. In the winter of 2016, Kecskeméti LC Kft. was founded, which took over the operation of the adult team from the sports school, and in the summer of 2017, Horváth Építőmester Zrt.

In 2016, the team finished fourth, in 2017 KLC was relegated to second place in a big battle, but in 2018 they managed to win the championship with an almost flawless performance, and after a successful game against Hajdúböszörmény, the team was promoted to the NB III, where they finished second behind Iváncsa in the 2020/2021 season, but since the Fejér County team did not play in the NB II, Kecskemét could start in the second division in the 2021/2022 season. In a huge surprise, KTE finished second behind Vasas in NB II last season, so the purple and white team went from NB III to NB I in two years..
