The road to the quarterfinals for FTC and MOL Vidi

Vidi travel to NB I side Ferencvaros in the Hungarian Cup quarterfinals, first leg on Wednesday evening. The match will kick off at 18:00pm and be played over two legs. Both sides have had a fairly comfortable route in the cup so far. FTC have played a side from the county league, two NB III teams and one in the NB I. We have beaten two NB III teams and two from the NB II. One interesting factor is that Vidi have already knocked out two sides from the cup this season who managed to do the same to us in the last couple of years.

Ferencvaros route to the last eight

HC Round 6, 22 September 2018. Szegedi VSE - FTC 0-2

Round 6 of the Hungarian Cup saw FTC travel to play Szeged VSE in September 2018. Their opponents had finished in 5th place in the county league and although there wasn't too many goals, Leandro and Finnbogason scored to put then through 2-0.

HC Round 7, 31st October 2018. Sárvár FC - FTC 0-4

NB III side Sarvar were next up for the green and whites. Three goals from Finnbogason did the damage while Bode scored the other to win 4-0. 

HC Round 8, 5th December 2018. Sényő - FTC 0-4

Ferencvaros had NB III opponents once again in the next round. This time they made the journey to Senyo who play their football in the NB III eastern section. Rebrov's side had a comfortable afternoon against the home team who had a player sent off after 49 minutes. There were no goals up until that point. Finnbogason scored twice with further goals from Lovrencsics and Balazs. 

HC Round 9, 20th February 2019. FTC - Kisvárda 2-0, 26th February 2019. Kisvárda - FTC 1-1

Round 9 was played over two legs and this time FTC were up against first division opponents. The first leg at the Groupama ended in a 2-0 win thanks to goals from Lanzafame and Bode. Gorriaran scored in the second leg, which ended in a 1-1 draw. 

 

MOL Vidi journey to the final 8

HC Round 6, 23rd September 2018. Cigánd SE - MOL Vidi FC 0-2

NB III eastern section side Cigand were the opponents as Vidi embarked on the Hungarian Cup. Huszti and Milanov scored in the 2-0 away win. Hodzic missed a 3rd minute penalty but Marko Nikolic side still comfortably made it through to the next round.

HC Round 7, 31st October 2018. Vác FC - MOL Vidi FC 1-3

It was Vac FC that had caused an upset in 2017/2018 by knocking Vidi out 3-1. It was almost a year later that MOL Vidi returned the compliment against the NB II team. Hangya, Hodzic and Scepovic all scored to give the Fehervar side a 3-1 win. Zsolnai scored the consolation goal.  

HC Round 8, 15th December 2018. Budafoki MTE - MOL Vidi FC 1-2

Vidi were drawn with another NB II side in Round 8 of the cup. A visit to Budafoki MTE in the middle of December and just before the break for winter. Budafok had knocked Vidi out of the cup in November 2016 with a 2-1 win. However, this time goals from Nego and Scepovic earned the red and blues a 2-1 win. Balint Olah scored for the home team.

HC Round 9, 20th February 2019. Taksony SE - MOL Vidi FC 0-1,
27th February 2019.  MOL Vidi FC - Taksony SE 3-0

The tie was played over two legs against NB III central division side Taksony SE. A goal from Hodzic gave Vidi a 1-0 first leg lead in Dunaharaszti. The second leg included two goals for Huszti and the other coming from Anel Hadzic to make the aggregate score 4-0. This earned Vidi a place in the last 8 of the cup.
