The new NB I season begins with a 4-0 success

Vidi opened the new campaign with a confident victory against newcomers Kisvarda.

The new 2018-19 season kicked off on the 21st July at 20:15pm. Mol Vidi FC were up against first division newcomers Kisvarda, who had never previously met Vidi in a match.

Marko Nikolic made 3 changes to the side that started the CL Q1 game against Dudelange. Jozsef Varga, Istvan Kovacs and Krisztian Tamas came in to replace Vinicius, Huszti and Stopira who were rested. There were debuts for Felipe, Lukjancsuk, Shynder, Misic, Partsvania and Karasyuk for the visitors.

The game was fairly balanced in the opening minutes with the visitors having a player sent off after 12 minutes: Vari pusjed Danko Lazovic inside the box. Referee Bognar pointed to the penalty spot and also showed the visiting player a red card. The resulting spot kick saw Marko Scepovic shoot low, but keeper Felipe got down to save.

However, the score did not remain at 0-0 for too long. Nego sent in a cross from the right, which Lazovic connected with on 16 minutes to find the bottom corner (1-0).

Vidi continued to press and put Kisvarda under pressure in the minutes that followed. The crosses that went into the box caused danger to the defenders. A corner on 21 minutes ended with Tamas aiming at goal. Misic curled a free kick into the box after 28 minutes, but it ended up going over the bar. Misic had another shot minutes later, while a cross from the right from Shynder was eventually powerfully shot at goal, but Kovacsik managed to collect the ball. Patkai sent in a precise cross, which Hadzic headed into the middle, but the ball went behind Marko Scepovic. The move ended with Kovacs shooting over the bar from 18 meters.

The second goal arrived after 36 minutes: Nego ran down the right again and he found Marko Scepovic, who curled the ball at goal. Felipe saved well and punched the ball out, but it had crossed the goal line and referee Tamas Bognar awarded the goal (2-0).

The visiting manager made a change after 39 minutes when he brought off Lukyanchuk for Greek player Beriosz. A Kovacs cross on 44 minutes was heading towards the corner flag, when Kisvarda substitute Andras Gosztonyi came onto the pitch and made contact with the ball. Referee Bognar showed him a yellow and also awarded a free kick close to the line. The cross eluded everyone and Roland Juhasz tucked the ball into the empty net (3-0).

The first half came to an end with Marko Scepovic being replaced by his brother Stefan at the break. The visitors also made a change. The Serbian forward was quickly in the action with him testing keeper Felipe. Sos also had a chance to impress when he came on after 58 minutes for Danko Lazovic.

The summer signing almost scored within a minute of coming on. A lovely link up move involving Fiola-Hadzic and Stefan ended with a pass to Sos, who just failed to connect. Patkai sent a 63rd minute shot that Felipe saved for a corner.

Kovacs turned at goal after 78 minutes and aimed for the bottom left, but Felipe was equal to it and it went out for a corner. The 79th minute saw a Nego cross that Stefan tried to scissor kick, but he could not make clear contact with the ball.

There was still time for a fourth goal close to the end: Sos passed into the box from the right and Stefan slid in to guide the ball into the corner and beyond the keeper (4-0). The team kicked off the new season with a good 4-0 home win. Vidi are next in action in the Champions League Q2, 1st leg on Wednesday when they travel to Bulgaria to face Ludogorets.
