The Budapest club have made many changes to their squad over the summer.
Videoton will play a pre-season friendly against Ujpest on Saturday at the Sostoi stadium, with the kick off at 18:30pm. Nebojsa Vignjevic' side ended last season in 13th place, although they won the Hungarian cup after beating DVTK in the final. They were not allowed to start in the Europa League after being banned from the competition. Ujpest met Debrecen in the Super cup final on the 11th July, and just as they had done in the Hungarian cup final, they also won this cup on a penalty shootout.
There have been big changes to the Ujpest squad over recent weeks, with 15 players leaving (including Lázár Bence, Zamostny Balázs, Jarmo Ahjupera, Juanan, Pierre-Yves Ngawa). There were 8 arrivals (Forró Gyula from KTE, Vadász Viktor DVTK, Nagy Gábor Haladas, Berat Ahmeti FK Pristiná) and the lilacs are still looking to bring in further players with media reports claiming their coaching staff are looking at Papa forward George Griffiths, Haladas duo Guzmics and Németh. There were contract extensions agreed over the summer for both Balajcza Szabolcs and Kabát Péter.
Former director of sport Zoltan Kovacs returned back to Ujpest after serving a similar role at DVTK. He was a former player and coach for the Budapest club.
