Tamás Pető and Samir Abasov assessed the Sumqayit FK - Fehérvár FC Conference League first leg tie.
Tamás Pető:
"We won a very valuable victory, especially considering the events leading up to the game. We were after a long, 16-hour journey, so we couldn't really prepare for the match on the ground. In the first 20 minutes it showed on the team, we were not fresh and focused enough. Our opponent was well prepared from our game, started aggressively and imposed their will on us in the first twenty minutes. I'm proud of my players for taking control of the game before the sending off and the red card changed the complexion of the game. We had a lot of chances, we hit the post twice, we could have scored more goals, but the important thing is that we won the game. The match is still open, Sumqayit are a dangerous opponent and we have to watch out for them at home. Fortunately, in the return leg we will be at home and we won't have to travel. For us it's a very good result, we have to play at home to qualify."
Samir Abasov:
"Before the match I thought that two teams with similar skills will meet, so both sides have a 50-50 chance of progressing. After the 2-1 defeat, that changed, now I would give 70 per cent to Fehérvár and 30 per cent to ourselves. The red card affected the final result and of course made things difficult for us for the rest of the match. Fehérvár is a united and good team, but of course we will not give up. The odds are not in our favour anymore, but I still have faith in my players and I believe that we can play well and qualify for the second leg."
