In the first leg of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League, our team travelled to the home of Omonoia FC from Cyprus. The journey on Wednesday didn't make our task any easier, due to a long delay of our flight we arrived in Nicosia late in the evening instead of the early afternoon as originally planned.

From the opening whistle, the home team immediately came at us, and started with a high attack and created situations in front of the goal with their fast chances. After the first Omonoia corner, Panagiotou's shot missed the target, then Semedo's close range shot was saved by Balázs Tóth. In the 8th minute Semedo was excellent in the set-up, his accurate cross setting up Stepinski, Tóth showed another smart save in the visiting goal.
After the first quarter of an hour we came back into the game, having much more of the ball. In the 17th minute, Christensen released Mátyás Kovács in a great position, who powered slightly over. We approached the Cypriot goal with more ball possession and accurate passes that were pleasing to the eye, but we could not create another situation.
It was a varied game, with the hosts again getting the upper hand. We struggled to cope with the exciting Semedo, and in the 28th minute Melnyik could only stop him with a foul, and he was shown the first yellow card of the game. In the 34th minute, Stepinski was again on the end of a cross, but luckily he headed over. In the second part of the first half, the Cypriots increased the pressure and in the 39th minute Diounkou's cross was headed at goal by Stepinski, who slid in ahead of both his defender and Tóth and into the far post. Before the whistle blew to signal the break, the scenario was the same: Stepinski nodded towards goal in a one on one situation.
During the break, head coach Tamás Pető made two changes: our new signing Ivan Milicevic and Milán Pető replaced Csaba Spandler and Mátyás Kovács. The match remained the same, with the home team continuing to dominate the game. In the 54th minute, our best player, Balázs Tóth pushed Simic's 12-metre shot to the side, and then Semedo's rebound from a sharp angle was saved from the near corner - two great further saves in a matter of seconds! Christensen threatened with a long range shot, Fabiano was on the spot.
In the 59th minute Omonoia's dominance turned into a goal: Dionkou's cross was headed into the goal by Stepinski (1-0). Our head coach freshened his team with new substitutions: replacing Bence Bedi and Mátyás Katona, András Huszti and Filip Holender were brought in. In the 68th minute, Gradisar's strong shot was saved by Fabiano, and in the 76th minute, Tamás Pető made his last substitution: Nejc Gradiar was replaced by Bence Babos, who scored his first ever goal in the NB I against DVTK at the weekend. No further goals were scored and the first leg ended with a 1-0 home win.
