The teams played out a 0-0 draw at the Pancho Arena on Saturday evening.
It was the match of the weekend and also of the year on Saturday evening. Leaders Ferencvaros visited the Pancho Arena for this 19:30pm kick off. A win for Vidi would have seen them go top with four games remaining of the season.
Marko Scepovic was missing through illness after picking up a virus. The green and whites had Roland Varga on their subs bench with manager Thomas Doll having all his players available and none out through suspension. Fradi kicked off and it was Kovacsik who punched clear a cross on 3 minutes, but he also made contact with Koch who lost conscious. Roland Varga came on to replace him.
A 10th minute free kick saw Paintsil race down the left on a counter attack, and the visiting player ran the length of the pitch, before Patkai challenged him inside the box, with the forward still managing to shoot at Kovacsik. The Ghana player required treatment but managed to return to the action, but he ran on at the half way line and caused surprise to Nikolov, who had possession. The midfielder pulled back the Ferencvaros player and received a yellow card as a result.
Huszti curled a 15th minute free kick into the middle, which was flicked on by Vinicius, but Stopira could not make contact with it at the far post. Huszti was cautioned for his challenge on Dominik Nagy as the action continued. Paintsil rolled the ball to Gorriaran, who from 18 meters, curled a right foot shot over the bar. Paintsil again went down the left after 29 minutes, before crossing into the middle, but Bode could not reach it, and Varga connected badly with the ball with the goal at his mercy.
There were 32 minutes on the clock when Patkai released Stefan, who played the ball on nicely for Stopira down the left, and just got to the ball ahead of keeper Dibusz, but he could not lift it over him and the ball went out for a corner. Roland Varga had a 26 meters free kick hit the bar on 43 minutes for the visitors.
The 5 minutes of injury time saw Bode control a cross for the arriving Varga, who shot well over from 13 meters. Paintsil played Gorriaran down the wing a minute later, and he passed it forward to Varga. The winger saw his shot well saved by Kovacsik, who palmed it behind his goal for a corner. The sides went in at the break with the score at 0-0.
The second half started with a yellow card: Paintsil went into the book after 51 minutes for the visiting side. Stefan Scepovic had a shot minutes later after getting a nice ball from Nego. He tried to lift the ball over keeper Dibusz, but it missed the target. Fiola came on to replace Nikolov. Lazovic started a counter attack after 58 minutes, with Fiola sending in a dangerous cross, but Stefan could not reach the ball. Referee Tamas Bognar showed a yellow card to Lazovic instead of booking Gorriaran for his tackle.
Juhasz was another player to enter the referee's book after 64 minutes. Paintsil had another counter attack down the left a couple of minutes later, cutting in from the left to bring out a very good save from Kovacsik.
Hadzic tried to turn away from Gorriaran on 77 minutes, but he was clipped from behind and the visiting player saw yellow. Substitute Pedroso was another to be cautioned moments later. Roland Varga went down the right after 81 minutes, and shot across goal but the ball went out.
Yellow cards continued to be shown as the game entered the final stages. One of those was to Gorriaran, and it was his second, which meant the visitors were reduced to 10 men after 92 minutes. Bognar then showed Lazovic his second yellow as Vidi were also reduced to 10 for the final minutes.
There were no goals and the game ended with both sides picking up a point. Fradi take on Vasas next week, while Vidi have a game with Haladas at the Pancho Arena.
