In the 3rd round of the OTP Bank League, NB I newcomers Budafok entertained our team. The players of our former player, Csaba Csizmadia, have won once and reached a draw so far, while we went into the game on the back of two draws. The first attempt came to the home side in the 5th minute when Filkor fired from 30 meters not far wide of our goal. Four minutes later and Lorinczy curled a free kick in front of our goal, with Olah firing a few meters above the goal. In the 18th minute, Petryak played a ball in between 3 defenders and into the path of Evandro, who was unmarked in the middle, but his shot went over from 12 meters, in what was a great chance! In the 25th minute, Olah fired from 28 meters with tremendous force, and with the ball heading under the bar, Rockov did really well to push the ball onto the bar with with his fingertip.
Two minutes later and we had another chance, Evandro laid the ball to Petryak, who aimed for the bottom right from 7 meters, with keeper Poser pulling off a good save. We took the lead in the 35th minute: a shot from Stopira from 16 meters, was parried by keeper Poser and into the path of Nego, who was quick to react and find the empty net. (0-1). Before the end of the half, Rockov punched away a free kick and the ball fell in front of Szabo, who shot at goal from 17 meters, but the effort was blocked.
The teams went in at half time with Vidi enjoying a one-goal lead. The second half started with a chance for Szabo, who aimed for the near post from 12 meters, but Rockov was equal to it. We could have extended our lead after 54 minutes when Petryak found himself with a chance, and his shot from 10 meters resulted in a fine save from keeper Poser. Four minutes later and it was the home side that drew level: substitute Skribek hit a volley from 23 meters, which nestled in the far corner of the net (1-1). Vidi needed eight minutes to restore their lead: Nego played a one-two with Bolla, and the young full-back played him in with a fine ball, which Nego made no mistake from as his low shot went inside the near post from a tight angle (1-2).
Stribek went close for the home side on 70 minutes with his effort from 14 meters going wide of the left post. Nego won a free kick shortly right on the edge of the box. Houri stood behind the ball and although the original shot came off the wall, his second effort came back off the bar. Vidi made the game safe a minute later with the third. Petryak's cross was punched into the path of Nikolic by the home keeper and the Vidi forward made no mistake as he guided the ball home (1-3).
Minutes later and the home team were awarded a free kick. Kovacs took it and his shot from 19 meters produced yet another smart stop from Rockov. Skribek fed Kovacs with a good ball after 82 minutes and the home player found himself with a good chance but shot wide. Stribek showed good skills after 85 minutes but again he could not beat Rockov from 14 meters. The four minutes of injury time did produce a further goal: Petryak received a good ball from Funsho and the Ukrainian winger cheekily back heeled the ball beyond Poser to make it 1-4.
The final whistle blew and Vidi picked up their first win of the new season. An international break will follow with Vidi next in action on the 12th September when they take on Puskas Academy at the MOL Arena Sosto.
