Marko Nikolic: We picked up a very important 3 points

The two managers spoke shortly after the final whistle on Sunday evening.

Marko Nikolic:

"It was an unusual game, which lasted around 3 hours, but this is not important. The main thing is that we started the season really well. We managed to go top of the table tonight. We have done this by playing one less game. We have also done well in the Europa League, but overall it appears that we were not completely ready for it. Now our main target is to win the league title. We have picked up a very important and good result against Ferencvaros as it is always a derby game with them. I need to praise my players as everyone was talking after Thursday's game that we would not be ready in our heads, but they concentrated fully and showed a professional attitude to the game. We also need to say thank you to the supporters naturally. They need to understand that there is no "yesterday", no past as only the future matters. It is also important to note that this was our 14th competitive game this season. Our main rivals have played 6-7 or even 9-10 games, so we are that much more tired. This is why perhaps some of our players were not at the peak of their form recently. Now they will have some time to regeneration."

Thomas Doll:

"I congratulate Vidi as they deserved the win. An average performance was enough from them to get the 3 points today. We are lacking quality and also have plenty of injuries, which is all I can say right now. Several players did not perform to the level required and against opponents like this. I am disappointed as I have been spoilt by the way we have played in the last few years. This performance was not good enough. As for those players to return or whether we can sign one or two new players... We had some chances in the game. If we could have converted one of them when the score was 1-0, it would have changed the match. At the same time I have to say that there were periods when the score was 2-0 when it looked like they could win by a bigger margin."
