Marko Nikolic: It was a perfect end to a fantastic year

"I congratulate my players who played really well today. I am especially satisfied with their performance. This was our 35th competitive game of the season. Ferencvaros for example have played 12 games less but we still did not have any problems with our energy levels. You could say that the teams fitness is perfect and you could see this in the match as we fought throughout. We always battled whoever were the opponents. It is the 16th December and we have practically not have any injuries. This is thanks to the summer pre-season also, which went really well as well as the people within the club. The last 5-6 months have ben been very tough for everyone who works at Vidi. We played a very hard game with Chelsea three days ago and still put in a performance like we did on the pitch today. We deserved the win. It was a perfect end to a fantastic year. We won the league title and made it to the Europa League group stage. You could also say that we remained within a chance of making it through the group until the very end. We are still in the Hungarian cup and the battle for the league title this season is very sharp. We do not have to say how important this win was. We went out there from the start with the feeling of the three points are ours. It is very important that I could see the belief within the team before the game and the "blood in their eyes". If you have this then I am satisfied. I said this before the Chelsea game that we could not guarantee the result, but we would be fine mentally. Fortunately our attitude has also helped us gain results. I would also like to congratulate Ferencvaros and we needed them also to create a good match for the supporters. There was a real footballing atmosphere and I am pleased that so many came out from both sides. We need this for this arena. We are talking about professional players but it completely different playing in front of a thousand or several. I hope that many will come out for our games in the spring."

"This was a good match for the supporters to watch. I felt that the players could have held the game in their hands a little better. However, injuries to Lovrencsics and Varga had an influence on the match. Perhaps one of those should have been a red card. I congratulate Vidi for the win and the way they played. It has been a good autumn overall and we lead the league by 5 points. We need to carry this on in the spring. I felt the match officials could have done a better job, especially thinking about the second decision. I was really worried about Roland Varga. There were many battles throughout the game but I would have been happier to see better battles than rough challenges."
